It is definitely not a four star hotel, regardless of TripAdvisor or Booking.com assessments, and it pales in comparison with the other hotels we had on our trip, true four star hotels.||Attached photos show, in part, the poor condition of the room we occupied. One can clearly see that trim on the bathroom door and main entry door is marred and chipped, long overdue for repair and painting. Pictures of what passes for the clothes closets show unfinished edges and unsightly black curtains instead of actual wood cabinetry with doors. Included is a picture of the one window in the room which we could open [the others seemed to be painted stuck], and that only when we went to the main desk and borrowed the one crank the hotel possessed--which we had to return immediately in case others needed it. The picture of the sink shows cracks in the basin and a drain with no stopper. Lastly, a photo of the "desk" provided shows bubbling and other damage to the surface and edges. I forgot to take a photo of the chair which was stained and also appeared to have milk chocolate embedded...
Read moreAlmost a boutique hotel, this is on the small side compared to mega-chain hotels. Despite the size, the experience was first rate. The rooms were well appointed and cleaned daily. The staff was friendly and English is commonly spoken. ||The hotel was quiet with little noise from the hallway or street. There was a small bar with reasonable prices. The included breakfast had a nice variety of hot and cold items.|There are a couple of nice restaurants within a short walk of the hotel and the main shopping area near Stockmanns is about a 10 minute walk as is the railway station.||Like a lot of European hotels, they put two twins beds together. The linens were comfortable and the room temperature was easily modified. The shower is small. Very small, like a cruise ship and the elevators are also quite small, 2 people with luggage, at most.||The neighborhood was nice and quiet. ||This was an included hotel from our independent tour operator so I cannot comment on the price but we would definitely stay again next time we are...
Read moreWe truly enjoyed our stay at Original Sokos Hotel Albert! It has a unique, home-like atmosphere with a large sitting room and bar by the reception desk. The room was spacious and well-equipped, and we appreciated the hotel's focus on being eco-friendly. The breakfast included a wide range of options, including a delicious Finnish porridge. The hotel is located within easy walking distance of parks, restaurants, grocery stories, public transport, and Market Square. The hotel also has a sauna available downstairs for customers to use.||All of these things made the Original Sokos Hotel Albert a great place to stay, but our visit was made especially memorable by the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. In particular, Sonja provided information on activities we might enjoy, nearby restaurants, special Finnish treats, and other fascinating aspects of life in Helsinki. Sonja really enhanced our short stay in Finland, and we truly appreciated her attentive and...
