I'm afraid to write the review by words, hope it will at least slightly discover for you how amazing experience is waiting for you, when you will decide to visit this restaurant. Family spirit, cozy and very personal look, the menu build for your own inspiration this and many else signs show you to sit and let the waiter/waitress spoil you. From the beginning until the end, the attention of the person is not invasive not annoying not missing simply exactly as it is pleasant to you. Asking you questions with the help of choosing but so politely you feel like a boss there. Serve you dish by dish with precise time you will never feel to early or too late. Never forget to fill your glasses and clean even minor problem occur on your table for your best experience. This was just service, now step two is dishes. This is another topic from different world. The food is so tasty and by consistency not missing any proprietary thing, so easy to eat and enjoy. 4 steps menu was well balanced, I was leaving the restaurant without feeling to be over ate or not filled enough. The experience was so good, i couldn't believe when the waitress came to me with words singing about birthday, they get to know it just by the way, as additional information due to finding right place for our dinner. Never had better experience even in very expensive top restaurant like Taj in India. 5 of 5 and...

The restaurant claims to have opened in 1966, however I see this is false because the Ode to Joy was written long before then, which was clearly written about this place! Wow! What a meal!

I opted for the Kuu menu, which came with a 4 course dinner featuring some proper Finnish fare.

The salmon soup was dreamy and creamy, with the lovely smoked salmon falling apart in your mouth and the soup complimented it perfectly.

For my main I had the reindeer, and wow! It was honest to God the best thing I have ate in my life. Soft and tender with lovely mashed potato to accompany it. And I must mention the sauce! Berry and wine sauce pairs perfectly with reindeer!

The cheese course was a delighful berry jam with brie from a local cheesery and was served with a lovely fragrant cracker, although I had mine with the bread.

For dessert I had a coffee and the chocolate cake, it went amazingly with the sorbet it was paired with and was a perfect way to wind down my meal.

The place itself is laid back, fancy not stuffy with timely features that make you feel like you're dining out in the 60s, and I mean it in a good way! If you're in Helsinki then you simply must give this place some of your time if you're interested in fine...

Kuu is a top-notch a la carte restaurant that I had the pleasure of visiting, serving dishes deeply rooted in Finnish flavors. The restaurant boasts a simple yet incredibly elegant and cozy decor. Accompanied by a friend, we were thoroughly delighted with our experience here. Despite the bustling crowd that day, the staff were exceptionally professional and promptly attended to our needs. For starters, we ordered the traditional smoked salmon soup (complemented with bread, a delightful prelude), followed by the Pork Cheek with Savoy Cabbage and dark horseradish sauce, and the Reindeer with blackcurrant sauce as our main courses. The flavors were exquisite, the accompanying sauces were tantalizing, and they encapsulated the essence of Finland. My friend particularly adored the reindeer meat; it was his first encounter with such delicious reindeer meat in Finland!

While the prices were on the higher side, they were completely justified by the quality of the dishes. Delicious food, a cozy ambiance, and professional service culminated in a perfect dining experience. I thoroughly enjoyed this establishment and will undoubtedly recommend it to many friends...

Not my personal preference however I can say they are absolutely great at what they do. The service was imppecable however the food was not amazing to me. My Finland trip was based around this restaurant and having a Finnish food experience. I arrive for my 9pm booking on a Saturday and was seated by the kind, attentive waitress. I must say the service here was second to none. I ordered the beef carpaccio for starters and beef cheek with summer vegetables. Prior to the start of the meal, I presented with a bread basket with 3 slices of bread baked in house with butter topped sea salt, which were delightful. So much so, that I asked for a second bread basket during the course of my meal. Between my started and mains, I was not amazed or raved to give this as a suggestion to friends. The mix of flavours different flavours presented in each dish were quite good and the mains were perfectly cooked with the pork cheek being extremely tender but I felt like it was missing something. I would not say this was a bad experience at all, it was a really good experience but the food did not amaze me.
