Kauppuri 5 — Restaurant in Oulu sub-region

Only OK burgers nowadays except for the bun which is really bad. The ones giving 5 stars have clearly not tried the better burger places in Oulu, such as Social burgerjoint, Rooster and Tuba. Even friendsnbrgrs is better.

Kauppuri has some nice burgers with good sauces but the dry buns really make it a lot worse. The buns used to be good years ago... Those are not even burger buns, I don't really understand why they serve those. The sides are good with onion rings being probably the best bet. Try the Aura cheese dip for the onion rings!

The location is great but the restaurant itself is tiny and will fit like 10 people only. The service is "different" as in weird inside jokes but that's okay. Got served beer that had went bad the other day and...

So the Kauppuri 5 is one of the legends known to Finnish people amongst burger eaters. I have eaten the best burgers in the world in Chicago, New York and Los Angeles. How does this do with the top of the world?

Selection is great. Auraburgers, bacon, pulled pork.. you name it! The most scary one is “the butcher - Teurastaja”. It is a huge burger with double, triple or quadruple patties with bacon and pulled pork. The buns are home-made. Taste is really good, with fries that are perfect. Dip selection is good.

Place cannot just be passed! Cozy atmosphere and some good-looking people eating and drinking around. Kauppuri 5 also offers really good selection of beers.

Very lame burger, to be sincere. As seen in the picture (it was the week’s special, supposedly a bit more effort put into it…) it is not worth 15€. Other places in the city can offer a much more appealing burger or even menu, for the same price or cheaper. Small and not much taste. Also worth mentioning that it does not include fries, salad or anything else. Just plain burger…

Expensive beers as well.

We are a group of friends (10 or 15 always) that works until late on Thursdays and we used to go here because it was an okay place with kitchen still open for meals on the evening. But we got to the conclusion that we can go somewhere else and get a better meal.
