During my visit to the restaurant, I had the pleasure of trying their Shaba shabu hotpot, accompanied by spicy tuna tartar and scallops as starters. Both starters were nothing short of delicious, with the spicy tuna tartar and scallops being particularly standout choices. The fine dining atmosphere of the establishment was quite appealing, and we were seated at a hotpot table near the speakers. While the ambiance was cool, I found the music to be slightly too loud for my comfort. Our waitress promptly presented us with the menu and offered us water before taking our order for drinks and starters.

We opted for the Masu traditional passion fruit cocktail and a martini. While I wasn't impressed with the martini, I thoroughly enjoyed the passion fruit drink. Upon reviewing the table, there were only chopsticks provided, so we had to ask for a fork and knives to consume the starters. Unfortunately, the waitress left without any utensils or bowls, which made it difficult to eat the scallops. We had to wait a few more minutes before requesting that these tools be brought to us. This was a bit of a letdown, but the quality of the food made up for it.

The waitress returned to our table to inquire about the starters, which we signaled were excellent. She dutifully informed us that our hotpot would be arriving shortly. When she brought out the hotpot, she explained what it contained, but her explanation wasn't sufficient for those unfamiliar with the food. Additionally, with two sauce options provided, we were unsure of which sauces to pair with our food. After bringing us the main hotpot sauces, we had to wait another thirty minutes for the broth to boil. It would have been great if the stove was heated beforehand to minimize the wait time.

The hotpot's broth, sauces, and meat were all very flavorful, but I found the pricing to be a tad steep. Perhaps an improved introduction to the dish could help guests understand how to enjoy it better. On another note, while the food was fantastic, the presence of the waitress's spit on my face during her explanation of the hotpot wasn't the best experience. Once the broth finally reached boiling temperature, it was worth the wait, and we enjoyed a...

I had high expectations as I had heard good things about Masu and first impression was good but unfortunately our dinner ended up to be a big disappointment. We dined here on one Friday evening in a group of 12 people. Just to note, the place was not full but had multiple empty tables, and we had reserved ours well in advance. However, somehow it still took 1.5 HOURS to get our starters. After this unacceptably long waiting time one person from our party had their starter missing. The kimchi I ordered had sooo much garlic it was unedible (never happened to me before I love kimchi and have it very often), also the salmon tartar had a strange anis taste and I didn't eat it, nor did anyone else in our dinner party after having a taste. When the staff member came to collect the plates I politely told them I did not enjoy my starters when asked and explained why, they only said sorry to hear and that was the end of it. I work in hospo myself and would definitely have acknowledged this sort of complaint somehow. Bao buns were okay but definitely couldn't save the whole dining experience - can't recommend and...

The good: We booked a table for a dinner tasting menu for 8 and initial impressions were very promising! The food was good with varying degrees of okay to exceptional, and the wine pairing and cocktails.

The bad: the service we received went from just okay to poor rapidly. We understood beginning the meal the 9 course menu would take about 3 hours, no issues there. A friend group of ours arrived an hour later at a separate table and began the same 9 course tasting menu. After waiting 2 hours to receive course number 2 of 9, the other table was receiving the same dish. By the time we received the main entree, our friend group had finished and paid for dinner. 4-4.5 hours after arrival, we finally were able to pay. We were disappointed that the other table received quicker service and was done before us while arriving for a later...

Masu was a big disappointment. Firstly, we didn't like that if You want to take a set menu, You have to order the same set for all the people at the table. And If You want to change any meal, You have to pay extra for every person. Secondly, we ordered macha, neither it looked nor tasted like macha. The tea setup looked nice, but they screwed it up by bringing packaged honey. Waiting time between starters and mains more than 1h. Main courses (ribs and pork) was so sweet that we could not even finish it...:/ Crab starter was a mess. The good things were: sushi tasted good and fresh, Japanese bun was OK, and the best meal was wakame broccoli starter (picture of the bowl with peanuts). Portions size were good also.

What an experience. We had a party of 6. Everyone got a cocktail to start. Mine was the Ai Masu (a passion fruit base and sweet). I really liked it. We did one of the tasting menus. So the 4 courses were selected for you. There were a few of these to choose from. Ours had chicken gyozas, pork belly bun, lamb hot pot and Aisu (blueberry/rose ice cream). For $47 per person, We opted for the sushi of the day for $6 extra a person. The scallop sushi looked amazing so the table added them as well. All were very tasty but the sushi and bun were a table favorite. We ended dinner with green tea and coffee. The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated and the staff was very friendly and attentive. Highly recommend.
