Stefan's Steakhouse Tampere — Restaurant in Tampere sub-region

This has been our traditional anniversary restaurant, and the food has always been really good. Last time was no exception and the 7-course tasting menu was good, and the wines matched the food really well. In the beginning we received a extra dish as a welcome from the cook.

As said the food was really good, but the service wasn't. Being a younger couple (23-years-old) we felt like we weren't taken seriously. The worst incident happened after we had finished eating and decided to order some XO cognac like we do on our anniversary. We ordered Hennessy XO but clearly received VS or VSOP. We mentioned this to another waiter than the one who had poured the drink and she was pretty sure we were given VSOP. When we asked our original waiter (the one who took the order and poured the drink) he said he poured XO. In the end we were poured new glasses, and it was clear that we were first given something cheaper.

It's possible it was an honest mistake, but the staff was so reluctant to admit their mistake. It just left a feeling that they were trying to fool a younger couple (since they probably don't notice the difference). After already spending close to 300€ that night, it just really ruined our trust to the restaurant, and ruined a otherwise perfect night. Sad to think something like this would...

I was brought to Stefan's steakhouse as "the best steak place in Finland". I was told a little about the owner, that he opened several of these restaurants in Finland, and how carefully he monitors the quality of the meat served. After I tried the Wagyu tenderloin, all the words said about this place justified themselves. For meat, you can choose a side dish, I chose grilled vegetables. Before tasting the meat itself, I ordered an avocado tartare, which turned out to be insanely delicious paired with fresh tomatoes and herbs. Desserts are clearly not the strong point of the restaurant. I ordered a cheesecake and it wasn't as creamy as it should've been. But the presentation is very beautiful and this applies to all dishes. The wine list is varied. The atmosphere is romantic. There is an exit to the terrace overlooking the canal, in the evening a beautiful view opens up. The waitress didn't know English and I had to communicate with her through a local person who brought me to the restaurant. Due to the delicious cuisine, I will not remove a star in the review for this unpleasant moment. Visiting this restaurant will cost you a decent amount of money, but...

The disappointment war huge. I used to come to this restaurant quite regularly, in the last 12 months I came probably about 4 or 5 times. But this time it was completely different. The service was bad organised, we had to wait ages for the first drinks, ages to get the bottle of wine. And when we made the service person aware, we got a arsh answer. They seemed quite overwhelmed, not on top of their job and bad organised. The steak came all warm but not hot, the side dishes were hot, at the right temperature. By the time I finished the steak it was cold. Considering the pricing, I was expecting the same level of service I got in the past but I got completely disappointed. I hope they will change something with the service, otherwise I will not come to this...
