We would have come here every night of our stay if they were open (they are closed Mondays and we were there Sunday and Monday!). This place was absolutely spectacular and authentic french. We arrived earlier than their opening by accident due to the Google hours being wrong (they don't open til 7 I believe, but we got there around 6:30). The waiter was incredibly nice and seated us anyway- he was warm and welcoming! The food and drinks were absolutely incredible. We got the capo spritz (Blanco) and it was the most refreshing spritz I've had. We then had one of their salads with grilled toast and cheese, which had us both going 'mmmmm' out loud multiple times😂😅 Finally, we had the lamb shank and your mother's favorite pasta, which was a pasta with a creamy mushroom sauce, cheese, and pancetta. Both were absolutely delicious. It made the rest of our meals pale in comparison! We were so full we couldn't even order dessert, as their portions are so generous!! Lastly, the owner came over and made sure our meals were up to the proper standards and was very nice! The location is also nice, with a church in the background and a quiet little street. This place is a hidden gem that we could not recommend more! It is a must stop restaurant for sure! They even wrapped our food by vacuum sealing it, so we had lunch for...
Read moreWe just finished our dinner at Mammo, a small Corsican restaurant, and I was eager to write this review. We were the first in the door at 7 on a Wednesday night and received a warm and friendly greeting. The two gentlemen who were working the dining area could not have been more helpful and patient. We ordered two entrees and our two main plates at one time and the maitre d’ advised us that one entree to share would be sufficient. He was absolutely correct as the stuffed eggplant with tomato sauce was outstanding. My wife’s ravioli with mushrooms was excellent as was my plate du jour of beef and fingerling potatoes in a red wine reduction. All of their wines are from Corsica and my wife’s white was similar to a Chablis while my red was dark and fruit forward and perfect with my main dish. The place filled up by 7:20 and had a very positive and lively atmosphere. It is also family friendly (two families with small children came in) and can accommodate groups of several diners. If you’re in the old town of Aix en Province make a reservation (a must) at Mammo. You will be very...
Read moreCharming restaurant with very nice outdoor seating. Impeccable food, wonderful takes on simple dishes with a Corsican twist. Loved the aperitif / digestif options (the latter one on the house, thanks again!). I give 5 stars, but just a few small notes: we did not order an entrée (because they are quite big, as price would indicate), but an aperitif to start with slowly and main dishes with a glass of wine - main dishes and wine came quite quickly, so we ended up with two (cold) drinks in front of us. Easy solution would have been to serve the (great!) bread quickly, perhaps with a spread, and letting us get to our aperitifs. Second note: presentation of the fish was beautiful, but a bit impractical to have all the vegetables on top when you still have to take out the spine and fishbones. Third: food and service was great, so I was ready to give a good tip (which in France I only do when really impressed), but when paying I was immediately presented with suggested tipping options on the payment machine, an unfortunate trend in newer...
