L'Igloo — Restaurant in Albertville

Very misleading. My partner made a booking via email for 12 people to celebrate an 18th birthday. Valerie replied and asked if we would like a birthday cake, to which she replied yes please, that would be much appreciated. On the evening, we rang prior to our reservation to inform the restaurant we would be 30 minutes late. They advised they would still need the table back at 8.45pm, to which we of course agreed. We paid the bill at the end of our meal, and they very kindly said we could take our drinks and finish them downstairs at the bar, along with the birthday cake. When we were leaving, the bar man gave us another bill for €96, which turned out to be just for the birthday cake. When we disputed this, we were told that my partner (who had made the booking) was informed of the charge for the birthday cake and had agreed it. This was completely untrue, and we had the email chain to prove this. Nobody had informed us about the charge for the cake prior to attending the booking, nor did anyone agree to paying that price for the cake. We were a large table of 12, who had already spent a large amount of money on dinner and wine, to then be given another bill of €96 JUST FOR A CAKE! To add to this, they never asked us if anyone in the group had any allergies. The cake they served us and charged us €96 for had hazelnuts in and someone in the group has a severe nut allergy. Very unprofessional. The experience we had at L’Igloo was a positive one until the end which has left us all extremely disappointed and frustrated. To offer a birthday cake and then present us with a €96 fee at the end seems like a money making scam that they have in place. Safe to say we won’t be returning. Be careful if they offer...

Our team of 16 had a really good night in iglu* just few things: Got Leffe beer instead of Stella and when we asked for it to be swapped we got Stella in same un-rinsed glasses so all the smell and hint of taste from the other need ... not nice nor professional. The burgers were not medium and way too dry from what the other guys said. And we talking about nearly double the London price for a restaurant burger your expect perfection. On the other hand the pizza was...

Service was great, very friendly but sadly the food was average. Especially the children’s burger and chips, no salad or even a garnish, it was like it went from the freezer to the plate via a fryer, I would have expected something a little more, especially for the money. The cheese burger was also a bit disappointing, a burger, 2 lettuce leaves, some cheese and onion bits. Such a shame the effort that’s gone into making it a nice atmosphere is not reflected in the quality...
