La Gourmandine — Restaurant in Albertville

After a long day skiing this is the best place to have lunch or an early dinner. The burgers are amazing and the soup is served in a bread bowl! If the weather is good, sit out side and enjoy the view. The inside is just as nice too; cosy with lovely furniture. The food is reasonably prised but the drinks are a little expensive at €4 for a coke, however no more expensive than any where else in Val D’Isére. The dessert menu is a tray of all the handmade deserts made that morning so you can actually see what your ordering! Not great if veggie. We had the raclette between 2. One of us requested a veggie alternative to the meat tray and was given just a plate of salad without any deduction on price until we questioned it upon being given the bill. At that point they reduced the bill by €5. Also the cheese slice under the heater was pretty small between 2 (maybe 20cm tall and 10cm wide at base of the wedge), especially given the price (circa €29 per person). Very poor service. 12:10, still empty restaurant, 4 waiters watching their mobile phones. After 5 minutes we took menu card from the bar alone. After another 5 minutes we left (3x kindly asking waiters on mobile to come - no reaction, just wait a moment reply...). Food around 25- 30 EUR each.
