Au Hibou — Restaurant in Albi

Has great reviews. Shows its open most of the day. Doesn’t specify lunch hour. They had open tables at 1:25 pm. But said that all they were serving at that time was cheese and charcuterie.

Since I cannot respond to the owner in any other way I am adding these comments in response. I don’t know why the owner is so upset with my review saying I was nasty. I wasn’t nasty. I merely said that we got there at 1:25 expecting it to be lunchtime to enjoy a meal at a highly rated restaurant, and they could not accommodate us because they said they were out of food.

I have a 1-star in everything because I had to choose something and we had not experienced the food and service since we had been just turned away. There was no “not applicable” choice.

I come from Austin, Texas, USA. And if a restaurant says they are open for lunch from 12 noon to 2:00 pm, if you walk in at 1:59 pm they will serve you lunch - everything they have on their menu. And yes, many restaurants in Austin also serve fresh farm to table food. Restaurants in France are not unique in that respect. So, in some sense it was a warning to my American friends that they might be aware of this issue of the food running out if they got to a restaurant at 1:20 thinking that is a reasonable time to eat lunch.

We generally shoot for 1 pm for lunch while traveling so that we can sustain ourselves until dinner at 7:00 pm. But my wife uses a wheelchair and the cathedral we visited before we came was overwhelming and took a lot of time, more than any other cathedral, since it was so incredibly beautiful. And when you are traveling and seeing things it is often very hard to reserve a specific lunch time. Dinner is a bit easier but even there we have been late sometimes.

But given the wrath with which the owner attacked me, maybe it was just as well we didn’t eat at their restaurant.

Fortunately, a restaurant close to yours was able to accommodate us for lunch. They were extremely busy as well. We were famished since we hadn’t had...

So. Good. There were two of us and the menu only had two options for each course so we ordered one of each and daaaamn. Everything was delicious. Waitresses were friendly and attentive and the mulled wine was perfect. Highly recommend. Reserve though! We saw at least five parties turned away for not having a reservation after we sat down even though we got a table without one. It's popular...

Restaurante que ofrece desayunos por 7€ y menús por 19,95. En el desayuno ofrecen café, media baguette dividida en dos, mantequilla, mermelada y zumo de naranja. El desayuno me decepcionó un poco. El pan no era de gran calidad y no estaba tostado por lo que era complicado untar la mantequilla. La mermelada era de bote y el zumo de brick. El menú era muy decente, aunque la carne del primer plato estaba bastante seca. El pescado era fresco del día (vi como lo traían por la mañana), era jugoso y con buen sabor. El pollo más de lo mismo. Estaba en su punto, jugoso y con un toque de brasa. Los postres caseros y elaborados. Excepcionales!! Hay que tener en cuenta que los platos cuentan con un toque asiático (cilantro, hierba de limón, tamarindo) y quizás no guste a todo el mundo.
