A very disappointing dining experience on 2 fronts:
Food was average at best. The sea bass cooked in olive oil was accompanied by the most inedible bitter cabbage. It was unpleasantly buttery to hide the bitterness, but to my sheer disgust, underneath the mound of bitter cabbage was yet even MORE bitter chestnuts mixed with some unappetising cabbage-esque vegetable. As if it weren't enough, there's stringy bitter endive served alongside this bitterness fest. The fish itself was cooked well enough. But totally spoiled by this melange of awful flavours alongside it. My palate is accustomed to tolerate some bitterness but this was just unacceptable. Dining companion who normally eats everything and anything found it very unpleasant after trying a bit of this cabbage.
More seriously, they have zero awareness or care and concern about allergies. A life threatening nut allergy was prevented by me no thanks to them serving a madeleine with sorbet. It was not advertised as coming with a madeleine and the waitress (very lovely) had said the dessert was nutfree. She finished her shift when dessert came and when I brought this to the attention of another waitress (more front of house as she was dressed in more corporate gear), she agreed it had nuts, took the plate away. She showed the chef and we could see his nonchalant reaction being an open kitchen. She brought back a new plate without any apology. That shows how little they care about their diners. They are lucky a medical emergency or worse didn't take place that night in their restaurant.
Avoid Irma at all costs. Riding on the coattails of a "celebrity" chef and failing miserably. Some staff training on empathy and allergy management is...
Read moreI have no idea how this restaurant ended up in the guide Michelin. We should have listened to the other negative reviews.
The restaurant is at a nice location but inside feels more like a fancy franchise restaurant than a nice french restaurant with 40€ Main courses. The tablecloth is made from paper to conveniently replace it after a guest leaves. The tables are too close to each other. Each table has a small leaflet with Bocuse merchandise that can be ordered at the table.
Entrées arrived before we were asked what we wanted to drink after the apéritif, our glasses were still half full. But at least they were quite good. The main course was just bad, a tough piece of filet steak for 40€ with carelessly arranged sides. After the main course we did not feel like ordering desert, but it did not look appetising on the surrounding tables.
This was on our last day of vacation and the only bad experience We had at a restaurant in France. I would not recommend this restaurant and definitely not for the amount of money...
Read moreVery slow service and poor quality meat let this place down. Add a bit price tag and you realise it's not great value. 2 of the main dishes were entrecote, both were terrible. Mine had 1 small tender bit surrounded by sinu and the rest of the meat was chewy and tough. The entrecote on the other plate was cut like a wedge, where the tender bit was thin as paper and the tough sections were thick and raw!. The young daughter of the hosts didn't complain, but didn't eat it. She offered it strings the take were all that tried to eat it couldn't. The third main was pork, and that was over cooked and dry. One main was prawn risotto, my wife enjoyed that. We ordered coffees that never came, but was on the bill after an hour they served us coffee as we were leaving! When I explained to my waiter the issues, he advised there were no managers around to assist and could not help us. Seriously poor excuse and poor service. $270 Euro's wasted over 4 hours to eat lunch. My parking was only...
