Arcachon 1900 — Restaurant in Arcachon

We had oysters and iberian ham. Both of these were really good. But then the main course, one of us had the crab ( €25,- ) which u get with a small cup of mayonnaise. U only get 2 claws and a few legs, the rest was empty or not included, also the mayonnaise was not a good combination. We also all had fries as a side dish but only the crab had mayonnaise, when we asked for more he sighed and said we already had mayonnaise. He then came back with another small cup for only one person. The rest had steak ( €32,- ) which was undercooked. My friend asked for medium but got almost rare instead, also 40% of the steak was just fat so not chewable. Service was lower then expected. We wanted to take our time to eat but got asked if we were ready to order repeatedly in 15 minutes. When we did not know what to order the waiter sighed or rolled his eyes. He did not have professional attitude at all which made it quite uncomfortable at times. One of the staff members was also vaping inside and on the terrace. The toilets can’t lock from inside but were clean. The location is great but not really...

Giving 4 stars for location and service but 3 stars for food

This restaurant is really all about the location - right on the promenade and offering wonderful outside seating overlooking the beach and Bay of Arcachon. If early you’re offered seating either in the shade or sun, we were fortunate to have a table with direct sea views.

Service was friendly and efficient, despite the restaurant becoming busy, we never felt rushed and our server was attentive.

The prices do reflect the location (fair enough). Having had oysters from one of the many oyster cabins in Gujan-Mestras, we didn’t feel we where going to improve on them and they were double the price so we decided to try a Caesar salad - what a strange affair - breaded chicken goujons on top of piles of salad with a mixture of leaves, grated carrots, tomatoes and grated Parmesan, and very little dressing. It was an OK salad (could have done with more dressing), but it definitely was not a ‘true’ uncomplicated...

Was told that the food in this restaurant was fantastic. Apparently yes... but only seafood is recommended.

Had salmon enfant meal and Tata Salmon. Fantastic. These awesome dishes could earn their third star BUT, the canard that I ordered is a total failure. I ordered a medium Canard but it taste and feels like a well done canard. Plating is no doubt perfect( as shown) but the texture is horrible.

Salmon tata is highly recommended. Taste refreshing and filling.
