Phénix D'Or — Restaurant in Arcachon

I am Thai, travelling to Arcachon for work, and I was looking for a dinning place that offers Asian cuisine-- the best would be Thai food. I could not find this restaurant in Google map nor Tripadvisor since it was not described as a Thai or an Asian restaurant. After 15 mins walking around all the town blocks, I found this medium size restaurant hiding among the shops and residents. The owner is a very nice and friendly lady. She does everything from welcoming, seating, cooking, cleaning and cashier. She runs around to ensure that our food must arrive as quickly as possible, given that, she still managed to have time for small talks with all of her customers. Amazing!

The restaurant was very clean and well-managed. The toilet was clean. The price was very reasonable, not cheap-cheap like 5 EUR pieces of pizza of street snacks, but not pricey at all considering all the ingredients both locally sourced and imported. The food was clean, fresh, very good and tasty (not as good nor authentic as what you would find in Thailand, but more than you would normally expect when you are in a small city in France). Also it was not as oily or greasy like those in most Asian, Thai or Chinese restaurants.

All in all- I gave this nice restaurant 8 of 10. I was very happy and we really enjoyed the time we had dinner there and to chat with the owner lady.

I could not compare it with other Asian restaurants in the town since I didn't get enough time to try other places. However, if I travel to Arcachon again, I will definitely...

We ordered 3 Pad Thai vegetarian to take away. It was the worst we ever ate. Only noodles and sprouts, no vegetables, no spices, no salt, small portion. Not worth a penny and we paid 10 for each. Easy to trick tourists like that, but thankfully there is...
