Food that hits hard on flavor and presentation without the stiff vibe.
La Table d’Yvan in St. Rémy de Provence is a fall dinner dream. Ambient lighting, romantic yet welcoming, high-end but not intimidating — every room has its own vibe, and indoor/outdoor seating is gorgeous (though I was too cold to test outdoors). The course menu is market-driven, so you don’t know exactly what you’ll get until the day, but it’s guaranteed fresh and delicious.
My meal started with bread and local olive oil, moved to tapenade, then a split pea soup with dal and split pea bread, followed by super-slow-cooked veal that was melt-in-your-mouth perfect, and ended with pineapple sherbet and pastry — optional cheese plate if you’re feeling indulgent. Every dish had massive depth of flavor and presentation that screamed high-end.
Service was formal yet approachable, attentive, and proactive. I left completely satisfied and already plotting a return visit. If you want refined, exciting French cuisine without feeling stiff or rushed, this...
Read moreI don't know if I've been spoiled by the restaurants in the Luberon but this did not reach my expectations based on the high reviews. I liked the concept of this restaurant, every day they serve a different menu so you need to check online to see they're serving. You are not shown a good menu, only a drink menu when you arrive. The menu the night i went was scallop served 3 ways as a starter and pork as the main. The positives: The garden is beautiful and lovely in the evening. Nice ambiance and polite servers The negatives: The starters tasted premade and reheated and the main was forgettable. While not a bad meal, there was also nothing special at all. In fact I don't remember what the dessert was. I also saw that there were 2 other tables that were able to substitute the main from pork (which was served that day) to fish which I would have preferred. There was another table that got a fresh salad instead of the starter. I would have been liked to be offered these...
Read moreWe booked here as we understood it to have lovely views. Most people are seated under a pergola with no view, yes a pretty ramshackle garden but definitely not a view. The service was very formal, clumsy and awkward. Everyone talking in hushed tones, vibe not to our taste. The proprietor having a go at a waiter in exasperation because some people had turned up and he had to make up an extra table not good, he then looked grumpy for the rest of the night. No friendly welcome whatsoever when we arrived. Took ages to get a drink. Had discovery menu, which was good, the highlight of the night was the lamb which...
