À La Reine Mathilde — Restaurant in Bayeux

My favorite macaroon experience in France. Best macaroons I have ever had. Larger than usual, I am new to French and the staff humored me by speaking in French, even as I struggled. Legitimately wish I could go back and buy more macaroons from here, none elsewhere in France matched these.

Lovely experience. Highly recommend. Great walk down a historical part of town. Best macaroons on earth. Fantastic, nice staff.

Edit for people from non-Macaroon countries: I bought some Ladurée macarons before leaving France and Queen Matilda Ladurée. I have no idea if Ladurée is the McDonalds/fast-food chain of macaroons but Queen Matilda will ruin other macaroons for you they...

Prices, oh be wary, exceptionally high!!

10 Cream Chocettes and a Pistachio Pastry, 16 Euro, yes 16 EURO.....twice the price of even the previous most expensive combination of same that we have purchased across France over the past 4 weeks, all largely in tourist areas. Today we visited for the Tour , that's no excuse , we've bought better quality for much less, in several places that were having festivals etc.

Can't and won't recommend this establishment to anybody...

Explaining that my daughter is allergic to eggs (allergique aux oeufs) I asked if the little almond paste apples contained egg. The extremely disinterested assistant appeared to check and said no, there was no egg in them. I bought some only to find a small label underneath which clearly showed they do contain egg. Obviously my fault, I should have checked but I'm not happy...
