Boulangerie des Ducs — Restaurant in Bayeux

This was a regular (daily?) stop for us on our recent visit to Bayeux. Their selection of bread and pastry was excellent, with both classic pastries and local creations. One of the most interesting reminded me of an individual croquembouche; small choux pastry ball filled with a sweet cream, covered in a hardened blond caramel that had a light crunch. Very nice!

A cute little patisserie with a beautiful assortment of baked goods and friendly service. We stopped in during our visit to Bayeux and I remembered hearing about the Saint Eve pastry, so we got a couple. It's plain on the outside, and we weren't sure what to expect. For me no visit to France is complete without a Religieuse from a good patisserie, my wife feels the same about her Tartellette aux fruits. Maison Lemoisson did not disappoint!

The bread and sandwiches are also excellent. Though the choice of sandwiches goes down after about 1pm as they are all fresh.

Service was super and cheerful (they humoured my desire to use my somewhat imperfect French).
