Chang-Hai — Restaurant in Bayeux

We went here to order a takeaway for 7 people. The lady behind the counter spoke very little English or French which made ordering very difficult. The restaurant was empty was is not usually a good sign, when every other restaurant in Bayeux is full to bursting. When we collected our food it appeared that there were not enough trays for the food we had ordered. We questioned this and it was explained to us that some of the same orders had been put into bigger trays. When we returned home we did discover that one of our meals was in fact missing. We also learned that the 3 chicken different chicken meals that we had ordered were all together in the same tray and the only thing that distinguished them were separate pots of sauce that you apply yourself to the food. We’re staying across the street from this place and we’re craving something different from all the French restaurants. We absolutely love Asian food no matter where we are and thought to give it a try…

the prawn (shrimp) coconut soup was sooooooo delicious and piping hot. If you love any of these ingredients, highly recommend. spring rolls (for appetizer) we’re also piping hot and full of flavor. the a La Carte sizes are smaller so don’t expect to share your plates, we were hungry! the fried apple was sooooooooo and I mean soooooo good!

The only minor thing we felt was that the almond chicken (I ordered) didn’t seem to taste any different from the sweet / sour chicken my husband ordered.

As others have said and I should have believed: the restaurant is one very old lady all alone. She has problems understanding what you order, and mind you we were there with people that could talk mandarin with here and it still was a hasle. Also it took 2 hours to get our main dishes.

Also "special noodles" are packaged instant noodles.

But I can't agree one review that said it was the worst curry. The curry chicken I had was good, I would only have wanted to get it about...
