We recently had the pleasure of dining at Le Richelieu in Bergerac, and we wanted to share what a truly lovely experience it was.
From the moment we were seated, everything felt perfect. We were lucky enough to get a table on the terrace, which offers the most delightful setting. Watching the world go by with a view of the famous statue of Cyrano de Bergerac was a charming backdrop to our meal.
The food was absolutely superb. We had the confit of duck, which was cooked beautifully—crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and full of flavor along with the pan-fried foie gras, which was equally delicious and perfectly executed. A fantastic culinary experience!
I have read some other reviews online that suggest issues with service, but that was certainly not our experience. Our service was attentive, professional, and perfectly paced from start to finish. Our waiter was friendly and ensured we had everything we needed without being intrusive.
Overall, we had a fantastic meal and a memorable evening. Le Richelieu is a gem, and we would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Bergerac. Don't let other reviews put you off—our visit...
Read moreDecided to visit this charming looking restaurant. Showed to a table, sat down and ordered drinks. Drinks arrived, everything seemed ok. Ordered the main course, abruptly told that the pork loin was cold, decided on lamb chops and flambe prawns for my wife plus mash potatoes. Food arrived promptly lamb chops were a mass of fat with hardly any meat, prawns not deveined. Only four prawns in total. Overpriced and the meals tasted awful. Waiter missed mashed potato, on being asked, returned and plonked them down in a brusque manner. Left most of our food as chops were fat and tasteless and we were joined by other guests namely a swarm of flies. Asked for the bill and was rudely told to go inside. Waited at the counter for what seemed ages, another older rude waiter bashed numbers on a calculator. No detailed bill but a total on his calculator of 56€. We left but at no time we’re asked about the quality of the food. Shocking food terrible service. Avoid...
Read moreWe’ve eaten here twice in the past month, travelling through Bergerac from Bordeaux and have enjoyed it immensely. Returned with friends today who were similarly impressed. The atmosphere is gentle and comforting, the service attentive and the menu authentically regional. The meals were delicious. We thought the menu du jour at €29, was good value. Stand-outs were the Perigord garlic soup, the magret du canard, the ham as and the sorbets. Local beers and wines also, delicious. Highly...
