This is a redoing of my last rating. Since my last review a few things have happened. The staff are welcoming to my 6-month-old female border collie but 3 times now we asked to book for next Sunday, we turn up and apparently no-one wrote down our reservation. Fortunately, these lapses have been spread out over a few months. And recently when me and my father went there we both ordered "Faux Filet" and he ended up getting a burger (which he held a grudge about for some time) and another time we ordered caramel ice-cream and got coffee ice-cream instead. I understand that it's getting busier and more chaotic, harder to keep track and manage so i do my best to give them the benefit of the doubt but it is a bit annoying for a nice day out. Though I'm certainly not a fan of full restaurants, that's my problem, not theirs, in fact i see it as a good thing, as to attract so many. Nowadays i order the same thing every Sunday: Tuna, Mango and Coriander Tartare (which is surprisingly good, especially on a hot day.) Faux Filet (Sirloin Steak) with Fries and Salad, and Caramel Liégeois Ice Cream (Two scoops of Ice Cream with Chantilly and in my case Caramel around the inside of the rim (though it changes if you order Chocolate or Coffee. Chocolate Ganache for chocolate, you...
Read moreVery disappointing. Wife and daughter ordered the mains and I ordered oysters with two starters - I asked for the oysters and one starter to come together (as starters do) and for the second starter (which was a warm dish) to come with my wife’s and daughter’s main. Oysters came right away. Then the mains for wife and daughter came about 10-15 minutes later. When they finished eating their mains and my starters still hadn’t arrived, I cancelled my order by signaling to the waitress (who was too busy to address our issue). The waitress then miraculously appeared with my warm starter. It was a pasta. It was overcooked and dry. I only ate it because I was hungry. My wife and daughter’s mains were pretty good but nothing special. Not a restaurant I’d recommend. The restaurant we ate the night before (that had a poorer rating) had far better service and food and a better atmosphere despite it not having a view...
Read moreWe stopped at the Riverside bar & restaurant for drinks whilst wandering the streets and passageways of Bergerac, a town we have visited several times in the past yet one we have never really taken any time to explore. We realised very quickly that we should have taken more time in the past, as we visited on a busy market Saturday with all the hustle and bustle of life that accompanies a French Market.
What a great town and what a nice little bar the Riverside is. And as the name suggests its right next to the banks of the Dordogne River.
We didn't eat, we had a couple of glasses of inexpensive local dry white wine. We were greeted with a pleasant welcome and a ☺ smile. And after an hour or so of relaxing and people watching we resumed our exploration of the town. And what a...
