La Jeune France — Restaurant in Blois

We walked in at 1:45 pm. We asked for a table. Communication was an issue for them. I had greeted everyone in French and asked for a table in in French, which I don’t speak well at all. They asked if we spoke French or Spanish; when we said anglais (English) we were told that the kitchen closed at 2 and they could only serve us drinks. We said ok - we knew that lots of restaurants here stop serving food or close at 2, so we went to the restaurant next door where they were happy to let us order. We were sitting outside and I was facing le jeune France patio. I saw them setting tables with flatware, taking orders and serving food to new customers even though it was after 2. Not sure why we were turned away; but I think it was because we didn’t speak...
