À La Montagne — Restaurant in Bonneville

I have travelled the world extensively over 40 years. I ate at all restaurants ranging from pop & mom’s to Michelin three stars. This is my honest review of the restaurant A La Montagne in Megève, France.

This restaurant is located very close to the center of Megève. We started with a mozzarella and tomato with pesto, which was well prepared, although the seasoning and presentation could have been more refined. The flavors were already somewhat blended when served; having them more distinct would have made the dish more enjoyable.

We also tried a lighter variation of the traditional tartiflette, which was interesting, and a beef tartare with pesto, served with an egg yolk and fries. The fries were excellent, the tartare well made, though cut a bit too finely and with seasoning that could have been slightly sharper.

Overall, the dishes were good and satisfying. Service is quick, prices are fair, and the terrace is lovely—close to a quiet street and a very nice hotel, with views of the surrounding mountains and village. Absolutely amazing in all aspects. Service was excellent, French & English spoken and fully understood. All questions about allergies and allergens answered with zero hesitation and full disclosure. I had the Classique Tar Tar. I can tell you that Sardi’s in Manhattan barely holds a candle to what I experienced here. My beautiful Bride had the Savoyard and was not only satisfied but her tastebuds were fully entertained by the perfect balance of flavors her meal presented. Crème Brûlée for desert did not disappoint. It is a small inside restaurant with outdoor seating as well. I highly recommend both this restaurant and reservations.
