If we were able to give this place 10/5 we would. The experience was perfect and the staff even better!
We made a reservation in the afternoon for later in the evening. After a day of walking around the island we got to the restaurant early to have some drinks after our walk. The drinks were amazing and we were seated at a table overlooking the beachfront as the sun started to go down. The waitress was very friendly and took our order. When our food came we were blown away. My wife ordered the fried Camembert and I the ceasar salad. Her Camembert was mouthwatering good, and now I have to make it on request (or atleast try and make it that good), the salad was nothing special bust still very good. The main mindblowing thing was the entrees. She opted for the special burger which was a 3 cheese burger and I the house special burger. Coming from someone with my masters degree in Meat Science and who has done research in ground beef patty formulation, it was simply the best burger I think that I have ever had. Not close to being over cooked, the freshness of the ingredients on top of the view made it over the top. We actually had a discussion about is this the best thing we have ever eaten or is it just the bad experience we had at our hotel which makes it better, but no. The burger was that good. By the time we got halfway down with our burgers, we both knew there was no way to eat desert. The waitress and kitchen staff were gracious enough to box our desert up, but told me to bring the creme brulee bowl back tomorrow. My wife got the lava cake with white and dark chocolate (sorcery in of itself). The molten chocolate came forth like a marbled river and the creme brulee was to die for. Since we had a 2 hour wait before we could be taken back to our hotel the desert was gone before we got back and I decided to take my bowl back to the restaurant that night. After I dropped it off, I heard a noise at the beach. As I walked closer to the water, the light from their deck lit up the water and I was able to see 5 rays and 2 black tipped sharks within 3 meters of the waters edge. I just stood, watched and enjoyed the moment. The dinner at this place was just something to be experience yourself, we...
Read moreAs soon as we walked in, they gave us dirty looks and tried turning us away for not having a reservation because they couldn’t understand English and the fact that we did have one that was booked for us by the St. Regis. They had two other tables seated in the entire place at the time by the way. After speaking to two different employees they finally found our reservation and sat us at the requested table. We ordered our appetizers and food at the same time almost immediately after being sat as we realized it was about to be busy and we did not want to wait. Our server clearly forgot to put in our order as we sat and watched people who got there and ordered long after us enjoying their food while our drinks and table remained empty. When we followed up, the person we asked brushed us off and continued to help other tables without even attempting to find out where our food was. Our server clearly avoided us afterwards and made us feel like we did something wrong by asking why we still had no food 1 hour after ordering instead of taking accountability for her mistake. The food finally came out and it was just awful. I cannot believe one of the staff at the st Regis would recommend this place. Awesome view, garbage service and food. Save yourself the frustration and stay at your resort. Hours of my life and vacation that I will...
Read moreThis is a pretty cool place to eat in the Matira area. We went in January, mid summer in Bora Bora. The food can be excellent like the raw or marinated fish and the fish from the lagoon, and it can be so-so like any type of cooked tuna. Wines are reasonably priced, as well as the food. The service can be excellent, or you can get the waiter who hovers over you when you get the bill telling you how much you have to tip in cash in addition to the service charge on the bill. The setting is beautiful, especially during sunset overlooking the beach and water, but it can also be very hot and humid as an open air restaurant, especially before sunset as the setting sun blazes upon you, possibly making it a dining spot to avoid on hot day or until an hour after sunset. If you order right, on a not-too-hot day, and get the right waiter, it can be excellent. For us, we stopped going after the intimidation by the waiter for fear of getting that same waiter again, and there are other good...
