Café Gourmand — Restaurant in Bordeaux

Don't understand the ratings of this place; overpriced, mediocre food and unfriendly service. They get an extra star because they serve food after 22:30.

Paid +20 euros for a croque; 2 pieces of thick bread, an egg, some cheese, a bit of ham and a side salad. Also had the salmon, pictures of a year ago show plates full of salmon, avocado and veggies, mine was only half a plate (they put the small side dish on it too) and no veggies.

My dish was served in a plastic plate that resembled a marble one. Think that's a good metaphor for this restaurant.

This is a place with a very cozy atmosphere. We have been welcomed and guested like we were regulars. Owner is a very friendly, kind person. He takes care of every single guest. I have ordered andouillette (wild curiosity of a tourist…) but couldn’t eat it due to strong smell (as it should be). So I’ve ordered something new. He asked if I’m ok with my second order and if everything is fine with interest. When we checked the bill we saw that andouillette was not charged, I find this so kind. My first time ever in France. My first meal in France.

Friendly and helpful service by all. The waiter was patient and anticipating of my non-French speaking needs.

Wife and I ordered: -Tartare Classique -Croque Monsieur -Chocolate Mousse -3 glasses of local red wine (Bordeaux and Beaujolais)

Between the salad, fries, entrees and dessert everything was fresh...
