A Perfect Day in Wine Country with Fabien!

We had the most incredible experience on our e-bike and vineyard tour, and it was all thanks to our amazing guide, Fabien. From the moment we met him, he was warm, welcoming, and clearly passionate about both the region and its wines.

The e-bikes were a fantastic way to explore the countryside—easy to use, super comfortable, and perfect for all fitness levels. The route was stunning, winding through picturesque vineyards, charming villages, and scenery that felt straight out of a postcard.

Fabien was a true highlight of the day. He shared fascinating stories about the area’s history, wine production, and local culture, all with a great sense of humor and an easygoing style that made everyone feel relaxed. His insider knowledge really brought the experience to life, and he made sure we were all having a great time every step of the way.

The vineyard visits were exceptional—beautiful setting, delicious tastings, and plenty of time to soak it all in ( also some to enjoy when we get home!!) Fabien’s connections meant we had a more personal and authentic experience, far beyond a typical tourist stop.

This tour was the perfect blend of adventure, culture, and indulgence. If you’re looking for a memorable way to explore the wine country, don’t miss this—and definitely...

We had two tours from A La Francaise and they were both fantastic!

Our first was a wine tasting day trip in Bordeaux, guided by Fabien. He drove us from the meeting point to each location, and was very personable and knowledgeable. We learned so much! We toured a winery and learned the winemaking process, then had a tasting. We then went to a chateau for lunch with a second tasting. Lastly we walked through St. Emilion’s village, with Fabien explaining all the history there. He answered all our questions and was so kind and helpful. Thank you Fabien!!

Our second tour was a champagne tasting day trip in Epernay/Reims, guided by Thomas. We ended up being the only two people on the tour, but we all had a great time! Similar to the wine, we had our first stop touring a small family-operated facility and had a tasting, followed by the second stop with lunch - which was incredible - and a tasting. We ended with one more tour at a larger distributor’s facilities and tasting. Thomas was also very knowledgeable and kind, and made the tour feel like we were just hanging out with a friend.

Both were wonderful tours guided by wonderful people, and I would absolutely recommend booking one of...

On a day of alternating clouds, rain, and sunshine, Marion, our guide and driver , kept up the energy and positive vibes that made the tour fun in all weather. Departing Bordeaux she informed us about the region’s various wines, then spoke about the surrounding forest as we neared the grand dune on Arcachon Bay. We climbed the dune (wear shoes that can take a little sand), enjoyed the beautiful views at the top with a glass of wine Marion provided, and then descended in fun fashion! Next it was on to the “winter” town for a driving tour through the more modern homes of this wealthy ville. Finally a lunch stop at an inlet on the bay for oysters and shrimp and another glass of wine. The day was as advertised, despite the sometimes wet weather. Marion managed driving, instructing and timing between the odd rain shower. She had umbrellas at the ready for us when needed. On top of everything, Marion alternated languages between French and English, managing this really well so that both we and the Swiss ladies we were with all enjoyed the tour and each other. Count yourself lucky to have Marion as a guide, and that goes for you too, A...

While there may be a few things I could criticize, overall the experience was very positive and worth the money. I took the afternoon bike and wine tour. The bikes were sturdy (see my pic) with a basket to carry things and fat "cruiser" tires--a big help with cobblestone. They provide you with a bottle of water and a helmet if you want one. I believe they even have sunhat available. Bordeaux is a great place to do a bike tour. It's nearly completely flat. And it's spread out enough to make biking more preferable to walking. The tour didn't cover every main site listed in the tour books, but quite a few. We even crossed the river to spend a bit of time at the very funky Darwin place--a kind of resurrected neo-beatnik hangout. Groovy. We stopped half-way through the ride for a refreshing glass of white wine with a canele. At the end of the tour we had a full glass of delicious red wine and plenty of good cheese, sausage, almonds and chocolate. Finally we all got a bottle of that same red wine to take home. Very nice.

This bike tour was the highlight of my entire France trip! Saint Emilion is the cutest city ever and we got to ride electric bikes through the beautiful countryside and through gorgeous vineyards. I would encourage you not to be afraid of the bikes if you’re not a cyclist. There was one big hill, but the electric bike will help you. Ask your tour guide for the best setting to get up the big hill. Fabian was our tour guide and was incredibly knowledgeable about wine, the history of wine, the history of Saint Emilion, the countryside, everything we asked about. He was great! We had a lunch at the main winery which was more like charcuterie, but there was plenty of food. If you leave hungry, it’s because you were too shy to ask for more. They gladly brought anything more we wanted. I would love to bring my girl friends to Saint Emilion and bike around the vineyards and just spend time there and not Bordeaux. It was beautiful and relaxing! I loved this tour so much! Thank you Fabian!

I’m quite a few wines deep (courtesy of our wonderful guide - Regis!). We had the most amazing tour from start to finish. I personally sat with him at the front of the bus, and he was extremely knowledgable on the Bordeaux vineyards and Saint Emilion in particular. Regis was more than happy to answer our questions, no matter how silly they may be. We felt extremely welcomed, and we feel (as a group of 5 young ladies) that there is no better way to spend an afternoon! From the chateau itself, tasting many a glass of red, to the village of St Emilion itself, where we were able to enjoy the picturesque views, we feel we have seen a fantastic overview of Bordeaux’s wine country. Regis was extremely attentive, and went above and beyond to show us the beating heart of St Emilion - we even visited beneath the village to see the stored vintage wines. Overall, we’d thoroughly recommend this tour, especially our wonderful host - Regis! ❤️ 🍷
