The revisit:
My FIRST time here was horrible. The service was just not great and we left abruptly because it just became too much. I have returned since to see if things may have changed or improved. It’s now, to my knowledge, solely a cafe and not doing brunch like it attempted (please correct because it could just be a weekend thing) this time, the visit was pleasant. The girls were lovely and they loved my small dog. I have been back a few times now just to sit and have a quite coffee. If you are after an exceptional coffee (which there really aren’t many in Bordeaux and let’s be honest, the french are normally not that good at it anyway!) then Piha is your stop. They know their coffee, their grinds, their brew temps etc and they sell an array of coffee material ranging from gizmos and gadgets to beans and souvenirs.
The coffee is GREAT! That’s what you’re truly there for. It’s some of the best in Bordeaux. A well rounded, sharp coffee. The flat white is perfect (flat whites are so hard to get right, so if you pull this off you go up in the ranks). The ladies were attentive and lovely.
Stop in for a brew, you definitely...
Read moreThe coffee is the only redeeming factor in this cafe. Even if the cappuccino was rationed incorrectly. Food was completely lack-luster, poor excuse for a Eggs Benedict (eggs were pre-poached, as admitted my the waiter, and were cold upon service. Hollandaise sauce was watery and bland, and the bread was stale. Pancakes were dry and served without any syrup, and when we asked to swap the œuf au plat, for poached, we were told that apparently this is not possible because they pre cooked everything to potion their plates). What cafe doesn’t cook their eggs á la minute!?
Then on to the waiter. Service was nonchalant and lazy, also had to remind him for our drinks.
The barista was a nice guy though.
If you’re looking for a decent full brunch, look elsewhere. If you’re after a quick coffee (though might take a while to get served). Stop in here.
I hope to see this place improve. Mostly because they can roast...
Read moreWas treated really badly by one of the staff working there. He was incredibly rude. I walked into the shop and asked for a coffe and cheesecake. I dont know if I did anything wrong. But one of the staff disliked me instanty. Maybe because I did not speak French. I did not know if I needed to pay instantly or wait after the serving so I was more or less hoovering. He raised his voice unnecceasarly highly and more or less commanded me to sitt down. I took a seat, a few minutes later he came to me with the drink. He placed it down and more or less avoided eyecontact with me. I said thank you so much. He look at me closely and with the most spitefull and scarcastic tone said SURE! I still dont know if I did anything wrong or did anything to disrespect the worker or their place of labour. If so I am sorry. Sad just how much one person can destory an...
