Galerie-maison d’art François Xavier Bertrand — Attraction in Bordeaux

PLEASE DO NOT EVEN TRY!! Was cheated 240 + 80 euros. The police were even called in! I have never ever met a person running a business like he did.

I was in a rush on a monday at 5pm after just landed in Bordeaux city to find a proper salon and most were closed or fully booked. I walked pass his salon then walked in and asked the price to cut my fringe as i just had a hair cut one week ago. He then asked me in and started to bring me to washing area to wash my hair. Then i asked him again what's the cost to cut my fringe, he then said let's see later what my hair needs to be done. Then when he brought me to the seat area to start cutting my hair, he said my hair was very dry and flat due to heat and humidity and then proceed to cut with a shaver! not even scissors!! A SHAVER.

Then he shaved off my fringe till 2 inch long and DID NOT even asked me what length i wanted. i was so shocked and asked why he didnt ask first then just shaved off my hair like that. Then he replied saying that he's AN ARTIST and his place is a private salon so customers should listen to him. I replied that i am the paying customer and it should have been communicated before doing anything permanent to my hair. Then he got upset and started blow drying my hair.

My shaved hair cut came up to 240 euros. I was so shocked and paid 240 + 40 euros (for a product he kept pushing me for). After i paid with my card and left, i felt that i have been cheated and returned to return the product. Instead of reimbursing me with the 40 euros, he charged me on the machine 40 euros additional!! He kept saying he does not know how to use the machine and asked me to do the refund myself. This is HORRIBLE! He then said he does not have cash and lost his ATM card to withdraw money to refund me. As i had to leave Bordeaux the next day in the morning for work, we agreed when i will return a week later he will pay me in cash.

When i got back a week later, he refused to pay me in cash and said will pay in cheque. I AM A FOREIGNER AND DONT LIVE IN France! How to accept cash??? And then he insisted to pay by credit card which he charged me double the last time!!

THIS GUY IS A SCAM! PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT EVEN ENTER THIS SHOP. I really hope what goes around will come back to him...

Very very stunning art gallery!!! Totally worth the visit and spend time if you also love art!

Unfortunately I was on my way to an appointment and didn’t have enough time! I wish I will return soon to buy something from there!!!

Left salon not only satisfied with my new fresh-looking hair do but also walked away with an introduction to emerging painters and other artists. While a bit pricy it was a well-worth experience and I would definitely be a regular if I lived in France. Salon is surely one of-a-kind and Francois is a true artist. If you are looking for a "normal" (i.e. standard run-of-the-mill) hair style this may not be the place to visit.
