Chez Dupont Restaurant (Bordeaux, France) –a well-regarded bistro located in the Chartrons district of Bordeaux. This restaurant combines a traditional French bistro atmosphere with a modern twist on regional cuisine, making it a favorite among locals and tourists alike. Housed in a historical building, it exudes charm with its intimate, rustic-chic ambiance. It offers classic French cuisine with a focus on seasonal ingredients and regional products from the Southwest of France. Some of the standout dishes include: • Foie gras: A popular choice, rich and perfectly prepared. • Entrecôte bordelaise: A signature dish from the region, served with a flavorful wine-based sauce. • Duck breast: Cooked to perfection, often served with seasonal vegetables or a rich sauce. • Fish options: Always fresh, with dishes like cod or sea bass prepared delicately with local herbs. Being in Bordeaux, Chez Dupont has an extensive wine list featuring many local wines, particularly Bordeaux reds and whites. The staff is knowledgeable and can recommend wine pairings based on your meal. The service is warm and welcoming, with staff attentive and knowledgeable about both the menu and wine list. The ambiance at Chez Dupont is cozy and intimate, with a blend of traditional bistro charm and a modern touch. The restaurant’s interior is stylish yet relaxed, with exposed stone walls, wooden furnishings, and dim lighting, making it a great spot for a romantic dinner or a casual meal with friends. The pricing at Chez Dupont is mid-to-high range for Bordeaux, but given the quality of the food, the wine selection, and the overall dining experience, it is considered good value for money. Chez Dupont is highly recommended for those looking to enjoy authentic French cuisine in a charming and relaxed setting. It’s perfect for food lovers who want to experience the flavors of Bordeaux with a touch of sophistication. Read moreWhat a nice dining experience at this little place on the Rue Notre Dame. The restaurant is located on a very quiet street next to the “Notre Dame” cathedral of Bordeaux, must be regarded one of the nicest streets of the city. The restaurant is welcoming on each of my 3 visits there in the past 10 days. Walked in each time, no hassles though, must have been very lucky as they were always 80% plus full each time. Service predominantly cheerful though the male waiter could improve in his style. The ladies are much more warm and happy. Getting by with English was easy. They serve bread in a paper bag and wine by the glass generally reasonable both in terms of price and quality. One suggestion though is to let customers taste the wine first before pouring. This simple act engenders first class customer service. The food was delicious and portions generous. Some of the main course were good for sharing and the kitchen kindly served them apportioned without asking. Together with the service, the food in general very high quality and good standard of cooking. The restaurant is not classed fine dining but certainly is a very high standard bistro. Great dining experience.

Chez Dupont stands out on a street of stand- out little eateries. The lunch set eating there yesterday stood out as a combination of local bourgeoisie and visiting wannabe but never - gonna - fool - anyone types from Norf America.
The Noo York Times speaks highly of this joint..... ....unforunately forgetting that no one has spoken highly of the NYT for a couple of decades now.....
And yet there is something about this place. The excellent service from staff...... so charming that you find it almost disconcerting . Is it my imagination or do female staff often just have an edge when it comes to projecting a genuinely kind nature untroubled by ego ?
I remember feeling the same amongst lawyers but that is a whole load of other stories.....
Food was beautiful whilst remaining casual if you get my drift. That is perhaps when I like it most. When it achieves beauty without the feeling that the chef is desperate that you ' experience a...
