Hippopotamus — Restaurant in Bordeaux

A shocker. We went there for dinner last night full of hope notwithstanding a wide variety of reviews some good some not so good. The only shining light the Manager was understanding and did not charge me for my dish (either the 1st or 2nd try). The downside was the food. I had myself to blame to some extent by not enquiring about the initial dish I ordered but at rhe same time the waitress obviously knew we were novices having asked for a menu in English. The dish - Androulette xxxx. Enough said. A french delicacy but for me basically uneatable (I did manage to get through some) the stink said it all. Offered something alse chose chicken fillet thought that would be safe - wrong overcooked, chewy so it went back as well. My partner had a chicken burger which was similarly overcooked and chewy. The atmosphere was cool and the food was good. Unfortunately, though, we had an awful experience with one of the waitresses. This lady brought over a glass to our table by holding it with her fingers inside of it. When we asked her to replace it and not touch it inside, she became very noticeably irritated and started slamming glasses and bottles on our table without even saying she was sorry. An unacceptable behavior in my opinion, that ruined part of our dinner. Another negative note were the waiting times. We got to the restaurant around 8:20 and ended up leaving at 23. Par où commencer.... Accueil par la manager (merignac)à notre arrivée ,déplorable !!Pas souriante,agacée ! Les serveuses 5 au total, pour nous 4 et à la vitesse d un escargot ou d une limace !!! Apéritifs à peine servi que nous avions les plats!!bavette froide,faux filet 30 euros exorbitant par rapport à la qualité!! Avions commandé une bouteille de vin,avons annulé vu que nous avions pas commencer Apéritif que les plats étaient là !!!desserts 25mn pour passer commande avons du nous déplacer au bar pour que quelqu'un vienne prendre la commande !!serveuse qui effacé la commande au lieu de l envoyer !!et soufle devant les clients !! Glace chocolat liégeois on cherche les boucles de glaces fondues en totalité !!!carafe d eau que nous avions demandé en commandant à l Apéritif etait plus froide que la glace!!!et eau servi en fin se repas!! Il me paraîtrait primordial que tous le personnel suivent une formation !!!même la manager qui aurait besoin d apprendre à sourire, apprendre la bienveillance et surtout la gestion de son équipe !! Et peut être le grand patron peut être faire patron incognito, il serait surpris 😲 😲 😲 de la gestion et de la mauvaise reputation qui reflètent de son restaurant !! Et tout ça pour une note de presque 150 euros ,où nous sommes sortis déçus 😞 !!dommage nous n y retournerons pas!!!
