Le Foch — Restaurant in Bordeaux

We just arrived in Bordeaux after a long travel day from San Francisco, California and are staying at the Villas Foch boutique hotel at 25 Cours le Marechal Foch. Le Foch is right down the street, and we stopped in for dinner after settling into our room.

We chose the Pavé de Cabillaud d'Atlantique (Atlantic cod), a veal dish replacing the Poitrine de Porc on the menu, and a lime Pavlova for dessert. Both dishes were excellent, with high quality ingredients beautifully prepared. Our server was kind, courteous, efficient and helpful, recommending wines to accompany our meal, patiently accommodating my rudimentary French and switching to English when necessary.

Je me suis fait avoir par les photos. Aujd 16 juin: Immense loupé service et cuisine: Le serveur me recommande l’entrée, ce que je sélectionne. Le serveur oublie et m’apporte uniquement le plat du jour. Ah mince, mais bon.. les maquereaux (plat du jour) arrivent: 4 maquereaux mariné dans le vin blanc. Les mêmes que l’ont peu acheter en conserve en fait. Le fameux goût piquant, acide. En fait ça rend juste fou de payer 16€ un plat et d’avoir l’équivalent d’une boîte de maquereaux à 3€ dans l’assiette. L’accompagnement: 2 pommes de terre décolorées cuites à la vapeur. Insipide. Alors pour le chef: tu peux faire le maquereau frais 1 -à la plancha au grill 2- au four 3- cru mariné façon ceviche / sashimi Mais la c’était loupé Les voisins ont eu du porc ( manifestement 80% de gras), ont étés déçus, donc le cuisinier n’en est pas à son...

This is a great place to eat. The staff and owner are welcoming. The service is friendly and very fast, considering how good the food is. There is more variety on the menu here than there is on many other Bordeaux...
