Le K Baroque — Restaurant in Bordeaux

If you've already experienced the great pleasures of Le K Baroque no need to read this review except that you may not really know how marvelous its proprietor Stephanie Orlovsky is.

I undertook to plan our 60th wedding anniversary party for 33 guests from five countries by myself without knowing any French and not wanting to impose on my French family for suggestions. I wanted to discover something new and fresh and to surprise even them. Thanks to the Internet and FaceTime, Stephanie worked with me remotely to set up every single minute detail. She even helped me choose the final song to go with the champagne toast and gave me contact for a wonderful private taxi company to transport my guests from their hotels.

Unlike other venues, Stephanie did not immediately request a deposit- she trusted me though I was a stranger from New York. This alone spoke volumes about her sensibilities.

The evening was a joyous experience for us and, surely, would be for anyone who enjoys celebrations. All dishes served were generous and pleased even the most discerning French palates. My Parisian cousins kept asking "where did you find this wonderful place?"

Everyone in my group of 33 guests had something tasty to eat. The foie gras was exceptional, better than we had tasted anywhere! We had guests whose ages varied from the eighties to teens, twenties and some middle age-- everyone left happy. The theatrical scene changes are unexpected in the best sense of the word. What a creative team Stephanie oversees! She is modest and charming. Stephanie's sparkling persona added an extra dose of joy. I felt I had gained a Bordelais cousin.

My wife and I dined here twice. The food and wine were superb. The young wait staff were excellent, very attentive and friendly.

However, the only dampener was the Maitre'd tried to sneakily add 20 Euro to our bill when we paid with cash and topped up our bill with card.

Up to that point we had a wonderful time. The chefs certainly know how to present a meal with incredible flavour and texture. The young wait staff were brilliant and we could tell by the looks on their faces that the Maitre'd had tried it on before with English speaking tourists, who he saw a suckers he would never see again.

By all means eat here as it is an excellent dining experience with great decor, BUT MAKE SURE YOU...

I have been to this restaurant several times and though it was always really good, this time was truly exceptional: the consistent quality of each course, the cheerful service, and attention. As the restaurant at lunch was full inside and outside, it was demanding for the kitchen to keep organized. The flow of courses (we had a three course meal) was well-paced, the hot dishes were hot, and the cold dishes were cold. Not a beat was missed.
