AVOID AT ALL COST! THIS PLACE WILL RUIN AN SPECIAL OCCASION!

We arrived at 20:15 as per our reservation. Ordered the wine and food. The appetizer (escargots) came shortly after. The wine too.

Then we waited 45 minutes for our courses! We warned our apathetic waiter twice. He didn't even come to check how things were. After almost 1 hour, he passed by the table, looked at the emptiness and then headed towards the computer and I saw him tap the command with my own eyes. Then 10 mins later he came to say there was an error with the system and that the food would be delayed. I confronted him saying I saw him send the command and he replicated there was an error. Then the main courses came, brought by another waiter (Charles, I believe, who was nice and the only one who seemed to care).

The steak was tasty but way smaller than the ones they were served around us (see pic). The waiter also conveniently avoided mentioning that it came with green salad side when I ordered an extra green salad, which consisted of a few mesclum leaves straight from a supermarket bag (see picture) for 5 euros. We had to send the risotto back to the kitchen because it was totally uncooked. The rice was hard and raw. I had to share the steak with my wife as we were waiting. It finally came out 20 mind later. It was bland and underwhelming. This is just a personal opinion but she didn't even finish it.

The bread was hard, old and rubbery. If videos could be uploaded I'd show it.

The first waiter didn't even come to check on us or apologize, as he wandered around. Didn't even dare coming around. We would see people coming, eating and leaving during the time we waited for our main courses.

We asked for the check and of course we complied with our duty of paying every single euro, while the restaurant didn't comply with their basic task of serving properly. A total ripoff for the service and quality.

Our first neglecting waiter came as we were leaving offering two tiny glasses of sweet wine what we didn't even touch because we didn't order them and we don't like it anyways, as if that was gonna compensate the disastrous experience. It is by far the worst meal I've had in France.

A night that was supposed to be special was ruined. 2 hours and half for this, and no dessert and we didn't wanna risk it.

I would expect the restaurant to acknowledge their terrible mistakes, but considering how we were treated and the responses management gives to bad reviews, I can only expect they run out of business and dedicate themselves to...

We came here based on hotel recommendation and how nice the website looked. Initially friendly service and got offered to sit outside, nice location, not busy. Starters were nice enough, nothing special. The mains were the real issue. The duck was tasty but it was 5 thin slices for €29 with some overly sweet potato. I ordered the monkfish special and it came as a fillet on a watery gritty broth with some misc veg. Not sure if it was the veg that hadn't been cleaned properly or if it was some odd seasoning that made it gritty. The monkfish had not had the sinew removed making it tight and grisely round the edges. Tried to catch the waiters eye to send it back but couldn't get his attention so my husband kindly swapped with me as he thought he might enjoy it more, but after he had a couple of mouthfuls he found that part of the fish wasn't cooked through and the edge was inedible. Managed to get the waiter at that point to send it back. A more senior waiter came and told me I was having a smaller portion being made for me, I said I didn't want a new one but he said it was already being cooked and walked away. No apology was given. What came out was better, not sure if the first has been done by a junior chef or whether they thought the English couple wouldn't notice a bad bit of fish. Creme Brulee was nice but you had to order it at the start of the meal and at that point we were just keen to leave. Beyond our first drinks, we never got offered a second and the waiters didn't give us much opportunity to ask. The bottle of water we got given turned out to be €6. No apology given for the main, nothing removed from the bill. Very expensive for small portions of disappointing food and not...

The restaurant was recommended by the hotel we are staying in and we had high expectations but left disappointed.

The most disappointing element was the pressure to order dessert at the start of the meal. I have seen the owner responding to other reviews detailing this practice and stating that they are untrue. This is highly disingenuous.

The waiter put pressure on us to order a dessert at the start of the meal and we heard him do the same thing repeatedly to tables around us. It’s clearly a ploy to boost sales and creates an unpleasant atmosphere. We heard him say to the adjacent table that they should order the dessert and then they could cancel it if they didn’t want it. Why on earth would this be the system except to pressure customers into ordering food they don’t really want?

The food was ok but pretty average. Squid with rice was not hot enough. Disappointing for €27. €8 for a bottle of sparkling water was more than we have paid anywhere else in the area. Overall we felt the food was overpriced compared to many other meals we’ve eaten in Bordeaux and the surrounding area in the last couple of weeks. The dessert - described as a lemon meringue in the English menu - was distinctly average and slightly soggy in the middle.

We enjoyed the wine by the glass which was reasonably priced and good quality.

As for the rest, especially the tacky sales tactics, we would...

For the most part, I don't bother writing reviews unless a place is really good or really bad. Le 1925 is EXCELLENT. I simply can't say enough good about our dinner here. The decor is elegant and glamorous, the ambiance is warm and inviting, the food is delicious and beautifully presented, and the wine list is varied but not overwhelming. When a restaurant is this beautiful, I always worry that the service or food will be pretentious, but everything was perfect. The hospitality was warm from the minute we walked in. A man (I think he was an owner or manager) came around to our table and refilled our wine and asked how everything was going, and I thanked him on the way out the door--and he thanked ME for smiling so much (je suis américaine, donc...). We had olives and Champagne, œufs bio mimosa fermier, filet de bœuf, le magret de canard, and café & gourmandises. We provided a price range and asked the waiter to recommend a bottle of wine that would go well with our plat selections, and it was perfect.  All classics, all cooked and served to perfection, including the timing of the service. We'll be back in June, and we're looking forward to having lunch or dinner outside and enjoying the view of the Monument aux Girondins.

Le 1925 Brasserie in Bordeaux is an unforgettable dining experience. The atmosphere is elegant yet welcoming, the kind of place that immediately makes you feel you are in for something special. The food was exceptional. I enjoyed a perfectly cooked filet of beef with a crisp potato galette, a beautifully charred vegetable finished with a vibrant herb sauce, and a rich jus served on the side. Every element on the plate was executed with precision and creativity, offering balance and depth in every bite. The 2014 Château Coutet St. Emilion Grand Cru was the perfect wine to accompany the meal. Full-bodied, smooth, and layered with character, it elevated the flavors beautifully and highlighted the mastery behind both kitchen and cellar. Service was impeccable. The staff were attentive, professional, and deeply knowledgeable, creating an experience that felt both polished and genuinely warm. Le 1925 Brasserie is Bordeaux at its best, combining tradition, refinement, and hospitality in every detail. An absolute must-visit for anyone who wants to savor the true essence of French gastronomy paired with world-class wine.
