Gemini Boulogne — Restaurant in Boulogne-Billancourt

Went for lunch, and arrived at opening. We were the only ones there at that time. I ordered the fried mozzarella to share and penne funghi, and my friend got one of the pizzas and some wine.

The mozzarella was 7 of the little "billes" deep fried, on a bed of spinach with a balsamic vinegar dressing and a lemon wedge. Very good. The penne funghi pasta was al dente (not overcooked and soft, had some firmness to it). The sauce was pretty good, though had a little more pepper than I would have preferred. My friend said her meal was good, and she ordered a 2nd glass of wine. We didn't have dessert.

Portion sizes were good - a reasonable amount of pasta without being too much, a decent sized pizza (probably about a 'medium' size at one of the chain stores, but with a very thin crust).

The server was very nice, and spoke some English (he overheard us speaking in English, I'm sure, though we ordered in French).

The ambiance was very nice - a little old worldy, but not dark / dusty / dirty. The restaurant was bright and clean. Would definitely go back.

They also offered gluten-free pasta, though we didn't try it. I don't know if they offered...

Expensive and midday lunch breaks are a nightmare - i have been multiple times and every time around you end up waiting for 45min or more to get your meal… Sitting clients should have priority over Deliveroo and Uber Eats orders in my opinion and when one is not capable of managing both, a choice should be made for the sake of the quality of service. Food is otherwise generally tasty and the waiting team is kind but I can’t justify spending most of my lunch break waiting for food to arrive and then have to gobble it...

We were wandering around in the area looking for a nice cozy place that still serves food (it was somewhat late) and when it started to rain heavily we were just in front of the Gemini and decided to get in. We did not regret the decision. This was literally the friendliest staff we have encountered in a restaurant in Paris ever, attentive, accommodating and quick, and serving a yummy pizza.
