Auberge L'Écurie — Restaurant in Bourges

Inviting informal ambience. The service was speedy to start and the food arrived quickly. The first half of my steak was tasty (the rest being fatty) and the fries and red wine sauce were great! The waitress was super with getting order details out of foreigners - great job on that. The rest was not so good. As there was only one waitress, getting her attention so I could have a glass of wine with my steak proved challenging. When the wine did arrive, it was freezing cold. After holding it in my hands for 10 min, it was still considerably cold to the touch. When asked if their reds were always served at this temp (I honestly thought they must have given me a chilled glass by accident), the waitress just said, "Yes, sorry." Odd for a wine centre of France. The side salad served with the steak is three pieces of lettuce, which definitely could just be a French thing. Bring a book if you're dining alone, as the manager does not allow patrons to use the house wifi. Finally, I ordered a bottle of Pellegrino, and despite dining alone, the waitress took advantage of the language barrier and brought me a 1 Litre bottle. I noticed as I looked around that there were couples sharing 500ml bottles, which obviously would have been more appropriate. We look for this place with great expectations, after all had great reviews. When we arrived the waitress came to us super quickly, we got the salad relatebly fast, but to we have to wait around an hour to notice that the waitress didn't process our order, and when finally my food arrive, the order was in correct, having to wait 20 more minutes. And when the food arrived my steak was burned. We were not the only ones with complains 2 other tables with locals left because of the bad service. Food was ok. I had the poke salad with in season vegetables which - when I was served - turned out to be melon..?! Portion was also tiny (three small slices of chicken). Husband had a burger which was fine. Waitress was quite rude. Threw chips all over my husband and the floor with no reaction, apology or offer to take money off the bill. Also said there was an offer on the day we were there but wasn't included for us apparently. Waitress seemed to be friends with next table and spent a long time chatting to them 🤷.
