Turned up at 9pm on the off-chance of a table and we were able to sit below in the bar with a beeper for when our table was ready. It was literally only 15 minutes and we were whisked up to the very top deck of the restaurant. We had lovely views over the town and our fellow diners up there were very quiet and peaceful. The waitress was kind and attentive even with our broken franglais and orders were easy to explain. Not much in the way of vegetarian, in fact a single salad, but the usp of la voile is fish and there was a decent selection. 3 of us, including an 18 year old with a big appetite, ordered the fish platter. It was enormous! With gambas, bream, cuttlefish, tuna, monkfish and seabass the amount defeated us all, though it was a close run thing. At €30 per head not cheap but brilliant value for money, I haven't ever sat down to eat that much fish but boy was it good. 3rd time at La Voile, first since covid and brexit and things are happily just as...
Read moreRUDE WAITRESS. HORRIBLE SERVICE. Came in mid-afternoon with a party of six to sit on the outdoor patio on a hot, sunny day. Moved over two unused chairs so that our party could fit under the shade of the umbrellas, waitress came out yelling that we can't move chairs ... while ALL the parties around us had clearly moved chairs to do exactly what we were doing. We said fine and sat down as instructed when a party right next to us (that had moved chairs into shade) left. We proceeded to take their place right away when the waitress again came out and yelled at us. Seemingly it was fine for the 5 - 10 other groups to move chairs out of the scorching sun, but not for us (nor take the spot of the departing party). Patio was half empty, so not like there was a shortage of these chairs. Place might have nice food or drink, we will never know as we left following such...
Read moreDined here on the strength of the reviews and the superb location overlooking Collioure harbour.
The service was excellent without being overly attentive.
The food:
Starters were great with the Tuna Tataki the highlight. Mains were only "ok" in my opinion. We had 3 different dishes (Confit Pork Ribs, Baked Cod and Tuna loin) and all came with the same sides of sauteed vegetables and rice, so not particularly imaginative. Can't comment on desserts although they did look good.
Family of four plus drinks came to ~€150 so not bad value but the food just fell short of expectations.
Great...
