A Punta — Restaurant in Calvi

A Punta mastered the Art of Noticing.

Kindest and friendliest Service I experienced on the Island. Besides the fact that the food was fantastic, and you have free wifi and a large array of pizzas and Co. to choose from, the Service was extra nice.

The staff noticed the lamp battery was empty at my outside table and gave me a new one immediately.

The staff noticed a stain of Coca Cola on my table and didn't resist to clean it off. Without even signing at the issue or asking for it. Very kind and empathethic.

But besides all that, I witnessed the most wholesome moment ever that night in the restaurant. An eldery and bonery couple was about to leave and the waiters helped the couple to get in their car. One waiter rushed to set the couple on a pair of chairs to wait for another waiter to get into the couples car (the old man trusted them with the keys) to drive the car in front of the restaurant and finally help the elders get inside the car safely. Even though they struggled to do that, it was an entertaining and wholesome for every witness and customer.

Moments like these are the point off everything and show the empathy and humanity radiating around A Punta....

We were looking for the best pizza in Calvi and A Punta was recommended. But when we went there we could see with our own eyes why it was recommended. The staff was super friendly and professional, everyone was speaking English, they knew the menu and they could explain everything, all ingredients and give us recommendations. We were with a dog and a waiter brought right away a bowl of cold water for our dog which was highly appreciated on a crazy hot summer day. Before we ordered pizzas we got our drinks along with a bottle of cold tap water with complementary salty bread sticks. We ordered Punta pizza and Corsica pizza. Punta is a well balanced Italian pizza while Corsica is a local pizza with authentic Corsican ingredients (Corsican cheese and sausage). Pizzas were thin Napolitano dough and they made them and served very fast. After an excellent meal we were offered ice cream but we had to decline because we needed to go. Every recommendation for this great pizza joint and next time we are in Calvi we will visit...

Pour les entrées, des salades sont proposées à 10 ou 17 euros. Le soir, on ne peut commander que la version à 17 euros. Selon le serveur, il s’agit de la « grande variante ». Malheureusement, la portion était pour moi beaucoup trop petite, les ingrédients de la salade m’ont semblé de faible qualité et il n’y avait même pas une vraie vinaigrette. Seulement de l’huile d’olive et du vinaigre balsamique qui, à mon goût, étaient de qualité médiocre et sans saveur.

Le pain qui accompagnait la salade « Punta » était vraiment sec et avait, selon moi, le goût de pain rassis. Vraiment immangeable.

Le « salade au chèvre chaud » était également complètement différent de tout ce que j’avais connu jusqu’à présent, malheureusement dans un sens négatif. J’ai reçu des morceaux de fromage de chèvre panés, dont certains semblaient contenir plus de chapelure que de fromage. J’aurais attendu un fromage de chèvre de bonne qualité, mais c’était décevant. La portion était aussi trop petite pour moi et, encore une fois, sans vinaigrette. Les tomates m’ont paru fades.

Les plats principaux étaient malheureusement tout aussi catastrophiques. Les gnocchis avec la « sauce tomate » étaient vraiment médiocres. Pour moi, cela avait exactement le goût de tomates en conserve passées au micro-ondes avec un peu de mozzarella bon marché. C’était fade, acide et vraiment pas bon.

La pizza n’était pas mangeable non plus. La pâte était certes très bonne et bien faite, mais la garniture m’a paru vraiment écœurante. La sauce tomate avait le goût d’un concentré de tomate dilué à l’eau, avec beaucoup trop de sel (particulièrement avec les anchois, c’était immangeable tellement c’était salé). Les câpres étaient très bons, mais à mon goût en quantité insuffisante. Les anchois étaient seulement salés, sans aucun caractère. Les olives étaient des olives noircies, fades, ennuyeuses et, pour moi, immangeables.

On nous a gentiment offert la pizza, car je n’ai vraiment mangé qu’un seul morceau. Le reste a été consommé uniquement par faim, et non pas par plaisir. Le service était manifestement attentionné, et je regrette de devoir donner un avis aussi négatif, mais la cuisine était vraiment remarquablement mauvaise.

C’est très dommage, car je n’ai pas eu l’impression que cela soit voulu de la part des propriétaires. Certaines personnes semblent d’ailleurs apprécier.

J’espère néanmoins que la qualité pourra...
