U Fornu — Restaurant in Calvi

As the name suggests, this is an oven. If you easily sweat, expect to be soaked at the end of the dinner. There is no breeze. I give this place one star for its food: I had the lamb, the Epaule d'agneau. It consisted of 80-90% of pure cartilage. When I complained, the restaurant manager insisted that it was me who didn't understand the dish. It was a very unpleasant conflict, which left me sad and angry leaving the restaurant, after one of the worst meals and experiences I've ever had. 17.07.2022 Wunderschönes Ambiente, TROTZDEM kommen wir nie wieder hierher. Sehr leckeres Essen, TROTZDEM kommen wir nie wieder hierher. Begründung: Uns beiden wurden um 20 Uhr zwei Tische an den äußeren Enden der Terrasse angeboten. Auf meine Frage hin, ob wir an den mittleren Tischen Platz nehmen dürfen, entgegneten sie, die seien reserviert (Tags zuvor wollte ich für unseren heutigen Hochzeitstag einen Tisch reservieren, Antwort: Das machen wir nicht, kommt einfach vorbei.) Die restlichen 3 Stunden bis um 23 Uhr kam niemand für diese Plätze. Uns wurde nach Beendigung unserer Hauptspeise für ca. 20 Minuten keine Beachtung geschenkt. Dennoch bestellten wir ein leckeres Dessert und zwei leckere Espressi. Der Besitzer nahm unseren Hinweis über die 20 minütige Wartezeit ohne Entschuldigung hin und servierte uns anschließend ohne ein Wort unsere Bestellung. Schade. Gastfreundlichkeit geht anderes!

07/17/2022 Beautiful ambience, STILL we will never come back here. Very tasty food, STILL we will never come back here. Reason: We were both offered two tables at the far ends of the patio at 8pm. When I asked if we could sit at the middle tables, they replied that they were reserved (the day before I wanted to reserve a table for our wedding anniversary today, answer: we won't do that, just drop by.) The remaining 3 hours no one came for these seats until 11pm. We were ignored for about 20 minutes after our main course was finished. Nevertheless, we ordered a delicious dessert and two delicious espressos. The owner took our tip about the 20 minute wait without apologies and then served our order without a word. Too bad. Good restaurant in the heart of Calvi. We ordered the charcuterie plate as a starter and then had the specialty of the restaurant, the slow cooked lamb with honey and chestnuts served with mashed potatoes-absolutely delicious. Service, while nice, was slow, although the place was busy inside and outside.
