There are no vegetarian options except pasta so I asked the waitress if it was OK to order the duck so it wasn’t pink or bloody and she said “oh sure fine not a problem.” However, I have worked in French restaurants before and I know that they are very scornful of people who want their meat well done. In my case it’s because I’m primarily a vegetarian and when I do eat poultry or fish, I want it to be cooked all the way through. In any case, the meal that arrived was a hunk of charred gristle, as hard as a piece of wood, almost inedible. What really got me was that the waitress also brought out a basket of packages of mayonnaise and ketchup, as if as an American I would put those things on everything I eat. I asked for a dessert and she asked, “Do you want it right away or maybe after a little bit?” I said “After a little bit is fine.” 45 minutes later they still hadn’t brought me my dessert so I paid and left. As an American who has lived and worked several years in France I understand the French have a lot of hostility towards us, but I was truly insulted at the way I was treated at this restaurant. Read moreHotel has an amazing view, 2-3 minutes away from the main entrance of the medieval city. And if you have a return flight from Carcassonne Airport, just in front of the medieval city gate there is a bus stop for Airport shuttle arranged according to Daily flights.
We had an early flight in the morning but the cleaning lady offered us a take away breakfast which was very kind of her, much appreciated her friendly attire and hospitality. Just because of her hospitality and the location we will definitely be back. And we wish we knew her name so that we can mention her here.
Gentleman at the front desk/bar was very helpful and answered all our questions. Thank you for that too.
The rooms are decorated not very fancy. I wish there is a kettle and tea/coffee present in the rooms, to us that was the most important missing thing at the rooms. Bathroom and toilet was clean.
Patio leading to the rooms can be dangerous when it is wet though, slip hazard risk is quite high.
Overall it was a very pleasant experience we will...
Read moreHaving dined at hunderds of restaurants in France this was our worst experience ever. Utterly unfriendly staff. The food, which arrived after a 5 minute's wait, was simply desastrous. My saucisse de Toulouse was dry and tasted like a ton of salt, the french fries were limp and soaked in frying-oil. Judging from the taste, my companion's ravioli (the chef's speciality!) came right out of a tin, as did the basilsauce which was full of lumps. As soon as the dishes were brought the restaurant's two large dogs took place besides our chairs but even they were reluctant to eat some of it. Needless to say we had not more than four or fives bites. On our complaints the staff suddenly pretended not to understand English nor French(which we speak fluently). While paying the bill the staff, who couldn't know I am familiar with French dialects, made some sneering remarks about us. It is truly a shame because the setting, overlooking the...
