We've been spending our holidays in Vaison la Romaine for several years and every year we visit the Comptoir des Voconces several times for drinks and dinner. It's always a lovely experience: friendly waiters and good food! This year we were traveling with our 8 month old baby, who was teething. The staff offered him bread to chew on, which was very helpful and he enjoyed it a lot. One night, when dinner was already ordered, he started crying incessantly. We didn't want to disturb the other guests too much, so my husband and I took turns to take our son for a walk to console him. This place is a sleeper. If you like sitting in a warm cozy dining room, which is not too noisy, with a mixed crowd of tourists and locals, and excellent service, AND if you like tasty food and almost unbelievably low prices, this is your place. Excellent informal dining on the square in “new town” Vaison la Romaine. We were looking for food at 5 PM and had been turned away from multiple restaurants (too early). The friendly waiter here offered to serve us “crepes” with ham, cheese, and eggs.
