When you are travelling one of the the most essencial things is food - where to eat, where to taste some local dishes, where to find the vibe of the place you are discovering at the momemtn. And it's 100% strike if you could find the symbiosis of spiritual and physical food. This is what I can say about the resaurant and brasserie "Le Saint Alp" which is next to the Saint Alpin church dated 12-16 centures. The one you should really have to visit being in Chalons-en-Champagne. And after you quenched your thirst in spiritual food, go staight forward to Saint Alp restaurant next door to quench your thirst in french food. Here you won't find snobish waiters or strictly scheduled menu of lunch and dinner, which is rather often at french restaurants. You will be a welcome guest whenever you come. What I liked about the place - the food, the waiters, the bartender, the owener of the restaurant. Yes, he is here for you, amiable, ready to talk, ready to advise. Is it a place to come with kids? - Yes! With pets? - Yes! Is it possible to come just for apero? - Yes! Is it about delisious food?- Yes! Is it about to spend your time with frieds? - Yes! Is it a place to celebrate yout birth day? - Yes! In summer time you may sit outdoors, enjoy the warmth of the day and the coldness of your champagne or wine, or maybe beer. Even if it's raining, there are big umbrellas to comfort you outdoors. Or you may sit inside, you choose ground or the first floor. Still the first floor is mostly for big companies, and for families. You may find here a father with the kids, girls companies, two generations of the family, an aged couple, a single customer with his pet. What to eat? Stake, escargot, warm salad, your choice. Believe me there is no chance to stay hungry. Even teenagers who are difficult to please will be happy with their food. I liked escargot so much, that Methi (the owner) presented us 3 dozens of escargot for our late dinner at home. The sweetes thing I ever got from the restaurant! In conclusion, I must admit that there was another restaurant before Saint Alp was found, but I would never have remembered its name. Now I know exactly where I will return for apero, for food, for service, for a friendly environment when I return to Chalons-en-Champagne - this is Le Saint Alp.
P.S. There are very pleasant prices for the very delicious and satisfying food. And do not forget to ask some liquor as a degestive at the end of dinner to help you keep fit. Why refuse...
