Restaurant Les Années Folles — Restaurant in Châlons-en-Champagne

As visitors from England wanting to eat locally to where we were staying, we found this traditional French restaurant excellent. It seems to be very busy in the evenings, we think it is very popular with local residents, so advisable to book ahead. There is a wide and varied menu plus of course a set menu. All is priced reasonably. We had the gorgeous hot giant prawns for starters followed by duck and beef. We had the three course menu and both chose the same things. The starter of salmon pate also came with smoked salmon and a salad. The entree was a rib steak with a garlic, shallot, cream and peppercorn sauce. For dessert, we ordered what our server suggested: three scoops of different ice creams lying in a bath of some type of Champagne liquor, drizzled with chocolate. Heavenly! We had started with a glass of Champagne each, then shared a half bottle of St. Emilion....

A few blocks away from the central square (with some overpriced eateries) is this lovely, local, family run restaurant. Great atmosphere, service and value for money. The food was excellent and priced well below the tourist traps in the city centre. If you're going on a Friday or Saturday evening it might be wise to book a table.
