Tarmac — Restaurant in Chalon-sur-Saône

We arrived here quite late on a Saturday eve after travelling up from Vaison-la-Romaine, we naively hadn't booked anywhere for diner for the 6 of us and wandered around the town several times being turned away from every place we tried and in a pretty unfriendly manner from most (looking at you Pasta Basta).. just when we were about to give up and head for the golden arches we tried Tarmac and they agreed to serve pizza or salad (not burgers or specials). we didn't know what to expect but the food was great and the waiter was lovely, as was the lady who greeted us. The quality of the food is very high, especially the pizza (which is what i ordered). The ingredients are fresh and vibrant. You can even watch your food being made!!

There is a great choice of drinks and the atmosphere is fantastic. All staff members are polite and friendly even with non french speaking customers (like myself).

The service is quick and staff members remain diligent to the progress of your table never rushing you.

I highly rate this venue and is suitable for all ages.

Stopped off in Chalon-sur-Saone on the way to the South of France with my son. He actually chose the restaurant which wouldn't have been my first choice because I'm not a big fan of pizza.

How wrong could I be; the food was absolutely mouthwatering and everything freshly made. I couldn't eat all of my pizza because it was so large and I didn't want to leave it so I asked the waitress if they could box it up for me to take away which they very kindly did. I hoped to dine there again on the way back but sadly...
