L'ARBRE A PALABRES — Restaurant in Chambéry

L'ARBRE A PALABRES is a restaurant I have frequented many times over the years when I am in Aix Les Bains, France and I have never had a bad meal there! The staff is always friendly and polite. There is indoor and outdoor seating. It is a very popular place to eat @ lunchtime and it is situated near the park. I had the plate du jour...scallops on a bed of creamy risotto for 23 Euros and it was truly delightful! I followed that with a light desert of fresh fruit with a side of whipped cream...oh so good! Warm welcome by the crew, but the mussels we ordered were below any culinary standard. When we confronted the crew about this, they tried to explain why these were overcooked 🤣🤣 we still wanted to send them back because these were beyond edible, at first they tried to still charge us the mussels, but in the end they reduced the bill.

But take this as a warning… pizza is mediocre, but anything else most likely is just deep frozen food that is heated..

I’ve cooked kilos of mussels myself, bought at supermarket, wholesale or freshly harvested, but never put something this rubbery...

Good option if you are in the center of Aix Les Bains. The restaurant specializes in traditional Haute Savoie cuisine and pizza. We went for the traditional options and weren't disappointed. Pizza toppings looked delicious but we noticed that some clients returned their order saying the dough was too dry. Service was fast and attentive. Price quality ratio is decent.
