Le Comptoir de Sarah — Restaurant in Chartres

Bad bad waitress ..impolite and rude .. I dont recommend going there especially with kids, I didnt like the whole experience in front of my kids, she should learn some manners, shame on her.

And by the way, your neighbour told us in French that we can sit at your place and order coffee as she doesnt offer… the kids sat and I came to you to order drinks and coffee and if this is not possible then "take away" coffee will do. Lady, you didnt even let me finish the sentence, I m not angry that you asked us to move, not at all, it is your right and I mixed up thinking you and your neighboring boulangerie belong together … but the way you did it , hushing us like a stray dogs and didnt allow me to finish my sentence, no excuse for bad manner, your are very rude, shame on you, even the kids told me why did you allow her to lash on us as if are beggars, anyway, we moved on and sat with dignity and nice welcome and friendly smile from your neighbering restaurant "Le Serpente", I think you should take Etiquette lessons from the lady there...

I would give it 6 stars if I could. This is my absolute favourite place to eat in the whole of France! (And it's my third time visiting.) The atmosphere is amazing. It doesn't feel like you're eating in a restaurant, but like you're visiting a friend. Sarah prepares a healthy daily menu every day, including bread. She is so welcoming, and she caters for every requirement: vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free. My husband had a chicken sandwich with carrot gratin and salad. I had a mushroom and chestnut soup, with a potato and parsnip puree. Both meals were amazing! We had a pear crumble for dessert, and it was divine! I can’t rate the food, but the service was appalling. My sisters and I visited Le Comptoir De Sarah during a road trip from Paris to Saint Malo. We hoped to order coffees and were conferring in English, before placing our order in admittedly broken French. The woman at the registry said “they were out” and turned us away. As we left, she served the person in line behind us. I have never experienced anything like this in my extensive travels. I always do my best to speak the language, even if I don’t have fluency, but can only assume she refused to serve us because we weren’t...
