Les écuries — Restaurant in Cherbourg

Based on my recent experience, I expected better than I received! Great surroundings and very well setup, however the food was average and the service was very poor. Hamburger wasnt great, not exceptional by any stretch , I've had much tastier for less than half the price , lacked taste, and seasoning, in my opinion... fries were pretty good , also suspected the burger had been pre cooked then microwaved due to timing and what I could see and hear The service, however, really did let the whole experience down . Shocking ! No smile and very regimented... my dish was slid onto the table with no real care . Paying the bill was just as good of an experience! The receipt was flicked at me with as much care as the food was delivered. Needless to say first impressions last !.

Our first night in Normandy for a history tour and we discovered this gem of a place tucked away in a courtyard off the high street. Booking advisable as the place was rammed (clearly deservedly popular!) but we were fortunate enough that they found a way to squeeze the five of us in by squeezing two smaller round tables together. The service was friendly & efficient, the atmosphere warm & inviting, and the food was absolutely delicious and very reasonably priced. We did not have to wait long for any dishes despite how busy they were either. All in all an exceptional dining experience, cannot recommend...
