Brasserie Chez Jeanne - Sainte Mère Église — Restaurant in Cherbourg

My wife and I had the most amazing meal at this small town restaurant. The people are friendly and the food is to die for. We have traveled from Amsterdam to Paris to Bayeux to Munich. This is the best food we found. Even the French fries were incredible. I don’t know how they did it.

We shared a salted caramel, vanilla ice cream, and whipped cream crepe for dessert. I have never experienced anything like that. The crepe and caramel were warm. The ice cream and whipped cream were cold. I could taste each individual flavor and sense the temperatures of the ingredients. Nothing “mushed” together to make a single flavor or...

This is a wonderful creperie just of the square in St. Mere Eglise.

We went for dinner, and they had a wonderful selection of galettes, which are a buckwheat version of a crepe. I had a yummy gallette with chorizo and local cheese. This is not a tourist place. It was full of locals, and our party was immediately marked as out of towners.

You’ll want to brush up on your French, as the staff were not even reluctant English speakers, but our teenage waitress was attentive and friendly.
