Note: not sure why there are so many pictures of the church, but this is the green cafe outside, NOT the church. This is a cafe/diner.
American tourist part of a tour group here. Service was poor, unorganized, and largely ignored many people. In the defense, it was the lady alone. Her 'husband' seemed clueless and didnt cook, take orders, or serve. Very little English speaking and not friendly despite catering to an American/British/Canadian crowd. There was a younger man there who I believe went to fetch more bread and a sudden influx of customers.
Ordered a hot chocolate (water and instant hot chocolate powder), 2x cold ham and cheese sandwiches (literally an 8" hard sub roll with swiss and ham, no condiments available all for 3 Euros each, dry and bland, and some bottled water. No acknowledgement when standing literally 5 min at the counter. Oh, and the sandwich was served on a paper towel. These were also not stuffed, but literally a sub roll, a few slices of swiss, and some pieces of sliced ham. Cannot emphasize how bad this was. As I mentioned the influx of customers, but that's no excuse for serving an extremely subpar sandwich on a paper towel. Really regret not taking a picture to emphasize how poor the sandwich was.
It would be fine if they never catered to English-speaking tourists but obviously they're in the wrong business.
I don't like to and rarely give bad reviews but this was grossly overpriced with terrible service. No clue how they stay...
Read moreAVOID THIS CAFE! It may be centrally located (and next to TI), but DO NOT GO! Baguette was stale and had one slice of ham, a tiny half slice of cheese and very little butter. I asked for mustard and they brought out a thimbleful. When I asked for more (for both my husband and me), the owner put it on the table and charged us a €1 addition (.50 per portion). When I went to the bar to complain the bread was stale, they looked furious and said they bought it that morning, and they couldn't just give everyone who complained more. When I asked for another baguette, (which I rarely do unless inedible), they deliberately ignored me and served other people, keeping me standing at the bar for 5 minutes until I sat down. Eventually they came out with my baguette -- warmed up. It was still like cardboard. (See tripadvisor for additional reviews.) Staff/women who run it are rude, the food (other than beverages, of course, which they can't ruin) is inedible. Don't make the mistake we did. It'll ruin an otherwise delightful quick bite. If i could rate...
Read moreJust don't... It was time to grab some lunch or wait till we were down the road to next stop and then the sky opened up for a downpour, seeing a few available tables and a quick menu on the board with various sandwiches thought we could make it work. We sat down inside, were given a small chalkboard menu and ordered two waters. Lady came back to the table we ordered two 'grilled ham and cheese' in the english version but as we suspected from the French side it was the "inside out" version which should have been fine with us. Well, the cheese inside the bread/toast was not melted the mayonnaise was so thick on top that when you cut the sandwich it just oozed out and that was all you tasted, not the ham nor the cheese. Bread corners were well toasted. Tourist area so we understand not to necessarily expect great food, but this was soggy, burnt...
