Restaurant L'Océanic Chinon 37 — Restaurant in Chinon

We booked this restaurant for 8:30pm and we flew from Uk to Paris then drove to Chinon. Due to hold ups on the motorway we arrived in outskirts of Chinon 5 minutes late planning to go straight to restaurant, not even check in our hotel. Unfortunately the roads were closed due to a road race so we had to park further away and walk to the restaurant arriving 20 minutes late. Sadly we were not given opportunity to apologise or explain we were turned away very rudely by the maitre d. I accept we were late but there is simply no need to be so rude. You could have politely turned as away and explained why. You could even have rung us beforehand and warned us of the road closures. We walked past later and saw new diners in what were empty tables when we had arrived. I note from other reviews that English people have had poor experiences. Draw your own...

We reserved a table here in French. They were very busy and got it wrong. Most French restaurants would have profusely said they were sorry. I have eaten here once a year for about ten years. Till now I would say they were really good and gracious and kind but honestly we were shocked at their treatment of us. In fact they acted like we were stealing a reservation which we had made. In literally 22 years of living in chinon this was the WORST treatment we have ever received in Chinon. I will not go back. I do not recommend. I heard also they changed hands. I recommend you skip this place for lunch or dinner. The food is just ordinary. But the service was awful, and we will not eat...

Lovely restaurant, service and meal. A wonderful option for seafood in the Chinon area, with a beautiful and peaceful ambiance. My husband and I both enjoyed each of our dishes - the food was light yet flavorful and the crisp on the skin of my fish was divine. The server went out of her way to accommodate our schedule and we couldn’t be more grateful. My only wish is that we had more time to enjoy the restaurant, and try the incredible looking...
