We had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant, and I feel compelled to share it to warn others. Rude Host at Entrance – We arrived around 12 PM for lunch as a group of eight. The staff at the door asked how many we were (which is fine), but then rudely told us we could only sit if all eight people were going to order food. That’s not how you treat guests – especially when it’s lunchtime. Dishonest Beer Service – We ordered half-liter beers and were served small 250 ml glasses instead. When we questioned it, the waiter insisted that it was the “half-liter size here,” which was clearly untrue. Worse, he didn’t even offer to correct the order. Unreliable Service – We asked the same waiter for an extra plate. He said “okay” in French, but never brought it. We had to ask a different server (a polite female waitress), who thankfully helped us. Unpleasant Waiter – The male waiter with the beard was extremely unprofessional throughout the visit. His attitude was rude, dismissive, and frankly, he acted like he didn’t want to be there. Whether he was being discriminatory or just miserable, we’ll never know – but either way, it ruined the experience for our group. Poor Food Quality – The French fries were overcooked and dripping with oil. Definitely not worth the price or the wait.
Bottom Line: The service was disrespectful, the food was subpar, and the overall atmosphere left us feeling unwelcome. I strongly recommend avoiding this place – there are far better restaurants around that know how to treat...
Read moreAlthough food was average (asked for a rare veal kidney and they were overcooked, chicken was also dry), we were mainly disappointed by the service: our young waiter seemed lost, not sure if he had a rough night before, but struggled to get our order, even though we ordered in French (I am a native speaker). We then got local wine that was also average, and got surprised after drinking half the carafe to have a large quantity of tannin left. This should have been checked beforehand, you don't serve the bottom of the barrel / bottle, especially at that price. After politely making note of this to our waiter, instead of simply apologizing and letting it go, the situation escalated to the owner who also decided that day to pick a fight with us instead of simply acknowledging the situation. It is very sad to still see this kind of behavior towards customers. Anyhow. Not our first visit to this lovely town, won't be the last either, but for sure the last time in this establishment. There are plenty of other options for food around, and they are certainly above the average level...
Read moreLooking for the most RUDE restaurant owner in Kaysersberg? You’ll find him here! I’ve dined at this place three times now, and everyone was accommodating but him. He is always SO cold, gives anyone speaking English a horrible attitude and our last visit to him was just that - our last! We arrived 15 minutes before they opened for lunch, and he came out complaining to us that we couldn’t sit down. I saw others sitting in the restaurant so we didn’t think twice about joining. I asked if we could just sit down to wait for them to open because my toddler was tired, and that’s when he looked at her with disgust and said no. He actually waved his hand for us to leave like we were dogs. Shocking, but I’ve also seen him treat others like this so I wasn’t too surprised. I would have left one star, but added two only because the food is delicious. Warning to anyone speaking English, be prepared for an extremely unfriendly welcome...
