I stayed in Hotel Restaurant Hassendorfer for 4 nights. It's in the village of Kaysersberg: the loveliest village on the Alsace wine route in my opinion. It has very reasonable rates (NB consideration for solo travellers) and it's situated within the old centre. Kaysersberg is a small village so everything is just a short walk away. The hotel is almost opposite the Albert Schweitzer Museum (a must see). There's also a car park opposite the museum but I don't know if its free or with time limits. If driving, it could be a good initial option to get your bags to the hotel as its only 100m away on the same side of the street.||||The hotel didn't disappoint. Large room, clean, average sized bathroom, a good honestly priced breakfast. Unfortunately there were no coffee making facilities in the room. A minus. The availability of sitting quietly and enjoying a glass of the local wine in the downstairs bar is a plus, especially for solo travellers. Everything is at the door. Restaurants, shopping, wine tasting, museum and walks outside the village. The hotel staff were very pleasant but busy so i felt more comfortable going to the tourist office for local information. ||||If travelling on the bus.. there are a few stops on the main road - the closest a 3 min walk from the hotel. Bus has hourly connections with Colmar and travels through other villages and beautiful countryside. The tourist information office was extremely helpful and printed off a timetable for me but times are also on the sign at each bus stop. Look for #145 to Colmar. It takes you to the centre of Colmar and finally the train station. ||||I should mention the stork nest up on top of the old tower at edge of village on the main road (near bus stops and car parking) - just 3 min easy walk...
Read moreAs soon as we got to the place we understood that the manager was extremely unprofessional and impolite (aside, he's English level would be low even for a 4 years old child - seriously). ||He was everything but nice or polite receiving us in the hotel and acted like he was doing us a favor on letting us stay there. He started to stress us with a bunch of stuff, but we did want to ruin our time there arguing about his attitude.||Since we were on a romantic getaways, we had expressly asked for a double bed (we actually called the hotel to ensure this). However, when we got to the room we noticed they had joined 2 single beds together (rather than giving us an actual double bed as they had guaranteed us over the phone minutes before). The worst part: the bed had two single duvets instead of a big one (they couldn't be bothered at least pretending they cared about our request). Believe me, sleeping there was extremely uncomfortable (and cold).||The next morning I complained to the manager. He started by basically saying that he could not understand English (which is actually funny for the guy in the front desk of an hotel that expressly says they speak English) and then we explained him the situation in French. He immediately started and being extremely impolite and aggressive towards us, basically implying that the situation was our fault. At no point an apology was made, quite on the contrary, in fact.||I will definitely never stay here again and will advise people to do the same. ||I honestly felt this was a rip-off and found that are much better places to stay in Kaysersberg. The only reason why I am reviewing this place qith 1 * is because it is impossible to rate it with 0, cause in my particular case hat would be the...
