Our room was generally OK in the nice but very touristy village of Ribeauville. However, we got the impression that the owners were somewhat aggressive about money such as being offered a welcome drink at dinner and then, upon asking, finding out that they would charge for it. We decided to decline it. We have been to many restaurants where a welcome drink is offered free of charge. So the fact that it was offered but it was NOT made clear they would charge for it felt a bit deceptive.||And when I checked out the next morning I was presented with the bill. It included the room, the dinner, breakfast for 2 and the tax. It seemed correct and I had my credit card ready to swipe when I realized that our rate included breakfast. I then said in French “But the breakfast is included in our rate.” The woman owner took the bill, made a change to remove the 2 breakfasts and said “C’est bon”. Not a word from her to say something like “My mistake” or “Sorry about that”. Only “C’est bon” meaning “it’s good.”||I told her I didn’t think it was correct to make such a mistake and not say sorry and she raised her voice and said it was MY responsibility to make sure the bill was correct. A very strange response, to say the least, considering we were travelling for a month and can’t keep track of all details of all bookings. That’s their job! No apology was ever made by her and there was no offer to take a few Euros off the bill to compensate for the mistake. Nothing but a raised voice from her while I stayed calm and had to tell her to lower her voice.||She then said “If you had noticed the mistake later you could simply send us a mail and we would have refunded it”. The fact is that a few months before our stay I sent 2 mails asking about a question about our room. I never got a response. So I think it is doubtful they would have responded to my request for an after-the-fact refund.||No big deal but be careful with your money if you stay here. If she had just said “Sorry” I would not have had...

Location: Located at the end of the main street in Ribeauville right next to a fountain and within the Hotel du Mouton.
Ambience: Combination between chill but fancy/classy. I liked that it was not as packed as other places considering it is a touristy area and it was lunch time.
Service: Very attentive personnel. We were lucky our waitress spoke Spanish and it made everything easy.
Food: My favorite so far in a 2 week trip in Switzerland and France (East). We had the escargots and I can’t pronounce or write my main dish but you can see the pictures. It was a very traditional dish.
Portion Size: Generous. One dish and no appetizers should do the trick.
Drinks: Great wine selection. We had an Alsacean region red wine.
Tips: No tips required or ask at payment.
Price: On the pricey side but reasonable considering the quality. If I didn’t had order the wine, it was close to $30 EUR per person.
Totally recommended! Go with enough time to enjoy the place. If you are in a rush, just get a pretzel with cheese and don’t bother. They serve great food, and of course and of course...
Read moreWe thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay at this beautiful, boutique hotel. Located in a very pretty square just off the central part of town. Sadly we timed our stay when the restaurant was closed for two out of the three nights (it's shut Tuesday and Wednesday) as the meal at the hotel's restaurant on our final night surpassed the previous 2 nights by some degree and we wished we could have sampled more. The breakfast was excellent - with a fantastic range of high quality prepared and chosen ingredients. Staff were very welcoming and friendly - excellent English spoken. The addition of a kettle and tea making facilities in the room would have been welcomed as neither my husband or I drink coffee, so the fancy coffee making machine was left redundant. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this establishment - excellent...
