It is hard to start such a bad review, but I’ll try to remain factual. First advice, do not come to Riquewihr the days around New Year’s Eve, you will find most of restaurants closed. Second, consider that if you make hundreds, maybe thousands of kilometres to arrive here, restaurants here open at 18h and refuse entrance at 20h. Now to the restaurant. The fois gras was very good and felt homemade. However, the choucroute and the veal heads were greasy, heavy, watery and without taste. We tried saving the night with a “chocolate fondant”, but ended up receiving the frozen industrial version. For 2 dishes each, 2 bottles of wine (good, they saved the night; hence the two stars) and two desserts shared for 4 persons, we ended up paying 63€ per person, and ate nothing. Read moreWe visited on a day trip and were recommended this restaurant by our guide for local Alsatian cuisine. We didn't have any wait walking in on a Friday around 1:50pm for lunch. We each got a glass of grand cue Riesling, split a tarte flambee Gratine, tarte flambee munster, and a rum baba and my friend ordered snails with garlic and parsley. The Riesling and rum baba were delicious and my friend liked her snails. We thought the tarte flambees had way too many onions on them. I don't eat onions so I was picking them off but even my friend, who does eat them, had to pick off a lot from her pieces. The gratinee was alright but the Munster was our preferred of the two...
Read moreVery nice restaurant ! We loved the decoration. The waiters are very friendly, they made us feel at home. Being from the region we didn't try the traditional plates but took the seasonal suggestions, game meat for me and fish/lobster for my wife, both were amazing! And the wines matched perfectly with the plates. My daughter took a nice grilled steak, perfectly cooked and tasty. Special mention for the Irish Coffee, you should definitely try it ! Thanks for that nice moment...
